Sharpen Your Axe

Sharpen Your Axe

Today, marks Abraham Lincoln's birthday. Our 16th U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln is revered as one of most endearing figures in American History. As President, he led the nation through the Civil War, our bloodiest war and our nation’s greatest political and constitutional challenge. Every American should consider visiting the Lincoln memorial in their lifetime, it is a wonderful testimony to this great man.

Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying “Give me six hours to chop a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” When we think about the wisdom of the quote, we see that the success of any endeavor is determined by the amount of preparation you are willing to put in. As you start you day, what are the tasks you need to chop down, which ones are the most important to you? Sometimes we just tackle problems as they confront us rather that carefully planning our success. Spend time sharpening your axe and pick the right tree to chop down!
