Sharpen the Blades 2021 is about Unity and Character.
With that in mind, consider this on the importance of action.
Discernment and Decisiveness must walk hand in hand. Unity of thought, will and action requires both, together, united.
Strategic leadership is about analyzing, formulating, implementing and evaluating. It implies critical thinking and creative problem solving. Thoughts, words, will and action; together. That is Unity within. Building true Unity without requires Unity within.
Consider Decisiveness.
It implies Courage, Confidence, and Initiative. It also implies Discernment, Trust and so much more. But it requires Unity of that thought, will and action; alignment of same.
Character is more than being good or strong or resolved. It is about deeds beyond words. Yes, we must analyze and discern. Yes we must ponder, create and formulate. But we also must initiate and implement. We cannot be guided unless we move. And it is our alignment of thought, will and action ... our Unity of same, grounded in Discernment, Decisiveness and more... that forges our best movement forward. Unity is often thought of with others...
... but is starts within... giving our thought its deserved attention, but engaging our action with as much energy. Alignment. Our thought should not hold us back. Our thought, will and action need best walk forward in partnership.
- What action needs be taken now for you, by you... action that has had enough Discernment and Creativity in terms of thinking on path to take? What action is necessary now, so that you can move forward and measure its success?
Do that. Sharpen the Blades on deeds over words. Let that impact your countenance and gate. Oh, and for much more on Character, Confidence and beyond.

I advance unity in diversity by moving the needle on leadership and education that is high character and results forging. I speak, teach, coach, facilitate, lead, write, sing, dance, cartoon and create on that. In 1980, Professor Rolf Hattenauer changed my life. A highly respected expert in Human Resource Management, he expected much of us and he believed much in us. He was an educator and leader of high character. He was extraordinary. To this day and beyond, I try my darnedest to honor his spirit with my own work. That is another story. But I hope I did him service here.
