Sharks in Space
It’s Shark Week, and you’d think that has nothing to do with space. But we did our research, and are here to tell you there is a bevy of films that fall in this category.
Shark Side of the Moon, from 2022, has shark-like beings inhabiting the moon (yes, that’s a Space Shuttle you see crashed on the moon surface in the trailer). Space Sharks, just released to video on demand, shows promise in this horror genre, with weaponized sharks coming to Earth. Back in 2015, Sharknado 3 gave us sharks flying through the vacuum of space. (We assume that no Aerospace physicists were consulting in the making of this film; the locations were NASA’s, though.)?
Lest you think sharks are not a consideration in space flight, NASA reminds us that there are considerations about sharks around launch sites. And National Geographic released a shark documentary, also titled Shark Side of the Moon, about how hammerhead sharks, tracked by satellites, convene under a full moon near French Polynesia using their organic GPS.
