Yesterday, one of my close friends asked me is there any way to share 25-30MB file without sending it either through the mail or through commercial/free services.
He is not inclined to start his own File Server or a Web Server or an FTP.
His reasons are genuine as there is always an overhead of running a File Server or another FTP server and maintaining it.
This is an interesting challenge and immediately started searching and immediately remembered about Signal (https://signal.org/) which is an excellent protocol. But this is not solving the problem at hand.
Then started studying more software which will be easy and at the same time support multiple systems with different Operating systems.
Then I came across Onionshare (https://onionshare.org/) which I read when it is in it's infancy (sometime in 2015) and almost forgot about this.
This is an excellent solution and should be coupled with Tor Browser (https://www.torproject.org/) to open the files.
So, you can install Onionshare on any computer and share your files and you will get an URL with onion https://h4byxcdsfdsjokyb.onion/broadways-filtrate
The interface will be like the below given image
Once you copy the address, you can send the URL by an email or some other means and the other party can download the files using the Tor Browser.
I have enjoyed it and tested this wonderful software and do let me know your comments.
