Sharing and Visibility designer - How, who and why?

What is sharing and visibility designer?

This is one the four certifications in the Salesforce application architect stream of the pyramid. Look at the left side of the pyramid below.

Who should do it?

Developers, Salesforce admins, Salesforce developers, Application support teams and anyone aspiring to be Enterprise architect, Business application architects, Data strategy architects who want to understand the way successful applications are designed for security and scalability not just on Salesforce platform but any other business application.

Highly recommended for leader who lead awesome teams and the teams looks up to them for guidance and help.

I would suggest not to look at it as another Salesforce certification and complete it for the sake of becoming a Salesforce application architect but with a view of understanding the complexities of building a work class business application which has to

• Be accessed by multiple users in multiple roles and profiles
• Interface customer and partners through portals
• Designed for complex data visibility and sharing
• Integrate and interface with multiple platforms and exchange data with them
• Support complex data structures internal, external, and shared
• Follow industry best practices

Look at it as a requirement understanding exercise for a brand-new application to be developed from scratch. I would recommend you relate the concepts to the various aspects of enterprise application design for better understanding.?

Who should not do it?

Please do not attempt if you do not have sufficient experience and if you are not in a related role or planning to get into one shortly, else the money and efforts will go for waste.

Why did I do it?

Multiple reasons. I had time, wanted to validate my understanding of the Salesforce platform, business application designs and above all reconfirm your validity of knowledge.

How did I study for this?

If you are appearing for this then the chances are that your basics are very clear if not, I would suggest start with refreshing your knowledge of the Admin, PD1 and App Dev. If yes, then here is what I did.

• Complete the trailmix on the trailhead. Read all the articles mentioned in the guided path and watch all the recommended videos. If you are unclear about any one of them then revisit.
• Enroll for the Udemy course by @Walid El Horr – An awesome course with complete coverage and clarity. Repeat the course if you have not been a regular on the Salesforce platform or have not dealt with enterprise application designs and analysis.?I watched this at 1.75x speed once and then some important topics which I was not confident about.
• Register for the sample tests by Focus on force. A caution here is that this will only suggest the pattern of question and you may not see many or any questions from this on the actual test but will give you a good estimation of your standing. The question have explanation of the right and wrong answers with required links from trailhead. Hence the idea is to read the all the link another rounds of revision. This also gives you a time-based full test.?
• Analyze your knowledge gaps and revisit the Udemy course and trailhead links.

Plan your test over a long weekend, at time when your mind is fresh. Do not block unusual test times like mid night and early morning like 3am or 4am. This test requires a fresh mind to read the long case study like questions with confusing options.?

I had a week off hence utilized the time to build up the pace by revisiting the Udemy course(2x speed this time) and practice questions so that you get totally into it. Did the practice questions by analyzing my wrong answers and understanding the right answers too!!
