Sharing stories works

Sharing stories works

Over the years I have been fortunate enough to share my story to literally thousands of people, in person, on podcasts, TV and through the 2022 Bafta winning film 'The Black Cop.'

Even though I am a skilled facilitator and have delivered many EDI programs I have found increasingly that it is the story 'or how the story is told' that has the greatest impact. I have met people who have heard me speak several times and still get something from it and that humbles me greatly.

Our stories are about who we are, what makes us tick and influences how we engage with others. I have come to find that of all the things I do my greatest gifts are vulnerability, compassion and authenticity. The courage to be emotionally raw and free.

My message is that I want you to be free to be you and that there is beauty in embracing the mindset that we are imperfectly perfect. If we want to become a society that values difference we must first start with valuing the reflection in the mirror with all its flaws and joys. Below is a selection of feedback quotes that keep me energised and inspired.

If you would like to consider me talking at your event then please email me at [email protected] or DM me via LinkedIn and let's discuss how I can add value to your plans.

  • "It was my first time attending, prior to the meeting I was dreading the input by G, purely due to the length of time the program gave for it. G is the most powerful speaker I have ever heard, and his story really resonated with me on a personal level. Please bring G back for next year!"
  • "I have been an admirer of your important work since I first watched your film in 2022, and when I was conceptualising ideas for the conference, you were the first person I thought of and hoped to involve. The feedback we've received from attendees echoes my sentiments, with many expressing how much they resonated with your story and appreciated the opportunity to connect with you further during breaks."
  • "Your willingness to share personally and be vulnerable was instrumental in fostering openness and connection among delegates, enabling them to truly engage and derive maximum value from the conference. Additionally, I appreciated how you seamlessly integrated yourself with attendees, engaging with many individuals and contributing to the overall success of the event."
  • "That we should not necessarily blame people for not understanding our protected characteristics and lives when they are looking at things through a different lens - people don't always understand our struggles, and this has helped me learn how to be more accepting and patient with those who may say things that seem judgmental at first. I will strive to be an ally to all groups and help educate people, rather than focus on what people should and shouldn't be doing. G's speech was fantastic for emphasising this point - excellent choice of speaker!"
  • "We are all different but the same, such as I am a disabled white woman yet I could identify with so much of Gamal's story."
  • "Looking to support, listen to and understand left handed people in a right handed world, to quote G."
  • "To consider in each interaction being a "right-handed person in a right-handed society". Gi has had a big impact on everyone here today and I think for the better. Based on something G said, who's views are you living by?"
