Sharing power...

Sharing power...

Recently, I have been reflecting on the "conditions that make power-sharing and decision-making more 'easeful', encouraging and inclusive". (And if they can be impactful as we are here, I welcome this too!)

What does sharing power mean to you when you teach, mentor, train, coach, educate, manage, parent, rule, advise, co-live, etc? Does it matter at all?

Do you wonder what could make it better, seamless, less exhausting maybe?

In 2025, I'll explore the notion of "Sharing Power" and how individuals' and organisations’ interactions enable power-sharing and decision-making with a positive impact for all.

This is where you come in!

I am looking for people investing resources, time, energy, or finance in social and environmental change, people who want to share power with others but feel that various issues, misunderstandings, or cultural ways of operating are affecting their progress and specifically their ability to share power.

Is that you?

By filling out this survey before Monday 4th November 23:59 UK GMT you'll get the survey results and enter a draw to win a complimentary and confidential 1-2-1 Thinking Partnership session of 45 min with me. With this time to think, you'll identify liberating thoughts to answer your emerging questions.

Here's the link to the survey !

Share widely and wildly!

Thank you!

Hi - I’ll complete the survey and - my first thoughts were “wrong question” sharing power isn’t what the issue is. What I notice is the dis-ease about sharing accountability. There are so many fairytales fables and legends that explore this dilemma - with power comes accountability. The focus in the workplace is usually about what resources and authority do you need to accomplish the outcome / result? I’ve seen few meeting minutes that explicitly state “mandate” ie this person or task team or work group is mandated / authorized to XYZ - have access to info, demand people’s time and engagement in an acitivity etc. The minutes indicate what they need to accomplish by when. So I’ve learned - if you want to share power with me, best we talk through explicitly the accountability, authority and resources topics, especially who gets the credit for success and who stands steady if things fail. As a team coach hearing the descriptions of what happens when a team disappoints or fails the organisation and what happens when they meet or surpass exceptations, is an excellent way to illuminate how power sharing in an interdependent people system actually functions. Nevermind the organogram and policy documents. Great project
