"Sharing and Caring"? with the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme
Paul Chan delivers 2017 Budget speech: from HKFP

"Sharing and Caring" with the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme

Under the delightful heading of "Sharing and Caring" Paul Chan's debut budget (thanks HKFP) made a (very) brief reference to the proposed VHIS.

No surprises that Mr Chan continues with the theme of "prudence" that his predecessor had turned into an art form. So the need for insurance based arrangements to supplement the ever expanding cost of public healthcare in Hong Kong will remain firmly on the agenda.

Details remain scant, but at least we have confirmation that Government policy is still on track to provide tax deductibility "for the purchase of regulated health insurance products". The details are still "being examined" but I'm pleased that VHIS gets a mention - probably it is going to happen.

Let's keep a look our for what the CE candidates have to say...
