?? Is Sharing Caring? The Confidentiality Question in Print Marketing ??

By Molly Rosenthal

As a proud marketing print partner, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a project come together. A beautifully printed catalog, a perfectly die-cut direct mail piece, or an eye-catching banner—what’s not to love? Naturally, we want to shout, “Hey world, look what we made at Kirkwood !” But here’s the catch: does sharing our customers’ work (with their permission) send the wrong message?

The Pro's of Show-and-Tell

? Portfolio Power – Sharing our best projects helps potential clients see what we’re capable of and sparks their imaginations.

?Celebration Station – It feels great to celebrate successes with our team and highlight the creative vision of our partners.

? Inspiration Factory – A sneak peek might inspire other customers and prospects to try something bold and innovative for their own brands.

The Potential No-No's

? Confidential Concerns – Even if a client says “go ahead,” they might secretly wonder if it’s appropriate. Does showing off their project feel too much like sharing a trade secret?

? Value Perception – If it looks like we’re claiming the credit, does it diminish the client’s role or make their investment feel less unique?

? Trust Issues – A misstep here could risk eroding the trust we work so hard to build with every single partnership.

So, what’s the solution? Striking the perfect balance between showcasing work that makes us proud and respecting the confidential relationship we have with our clients is no easy feat.

Your Turn: Thoughts, Please! ??

I’d love to hear from you!

?? As a customer, how would you feel if your print partner shared your work?

?? Fellow marketers and printers: how do you walk the line between celebrating wins and maintaining discretion?

Let’s swap ideas in the comments! ?? Keep it fun, keep it light—and who knows? Maybe this conversation will lead to the next big thing in collaborative creativity!
