Share your West Virginia story through Mountaineer Media!

Sharing authentic stories about West Virginia that move our state forward.

That's always been our goal here at Mountaineer Media. One of the ways we've expanded our footprint is by offering others the chance to use our platform to express themselves. This article is a reminder of how our blogging operations work and what to expect from us.

Essentially, it's an open invite to any and all West Virginians who want to express themselves and their opinions about the state. As far as topics go, you decide! We've had folks cover everything from outdoor recreation, tax policy, fitness, current events, historical pieces and more.

Whether you're an experienced writer or only took creative writing in high school, all skill levels are welcome at Mountaineer Media. Most of our bloggers collaborate with us because they are passionate about the state and want to contribute in some manner to it's growth.

As far as compensation, we're not yet able to offer salaried positions or payment per blog.

Though we've been known to send bloggers gift cards, pay for dinners and cover other incidentals. Additionally, joining Mountaineer Media as a blogger builds your professional network, which you can leverage to accelerate your career trajectory!

Most of our bloggers are relying on Mountaineer Media's existing media reach for readership. If you have a sizable social media following, email list or a reputation as a creator/writer in #AlmostHeaven then we can have a more advanced conversation about how we could collaborate.

All together, our social media profiles have around 50,000 followers and our website get's a few thousand views per month. We'll push the blog out through our Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tik-Tok, Twitter and email newsletter.

There are no hard commitments, deadlines or guidelines!

If you want to include pictures, videos or appear on the podcast to share more, that's up to you! Once you come onboard, you'll be announced on our social media pages and given access to a Google Drive folder where you can upload drafts. Mason Jack, Executive Producer of Mountaineer Media will then coordinate with you on edits/format adjustments and we'll release it within a week.
