Horror stories.
For most people, these are fictional stories about the living dead…
Haunted houses…
Or maybe even mass murderers.
But for others, these could be any real-life scenarios that could alter the course of people's lives!
These could also be events that could cause or already have caused disasters in the past.
Let me give you an example:
The Great Depression.
The Housing Bubble.
And of course, who can forget the COVID-19 pandemic?
These horror stories are great pieces to use as hooks to your next presentations.
Why?
Because they encourage people to think about situations that could have destroyed their journey.
And that’s not just applicable to big events!
It could even be those little horror stories that have caused disaster…
To a few people at a time or even just to you.
Horror stories could also be imagined scenarios you could throw to your audience like:
“What would you do if you had a very important business trip abroad…
And you just found out that the airlines misplaced your luggage?”
Or…
“Imagine if people never invented toilets. What kind of world would we be living in today?”
Or something like…

“What if you were going on a special date with a lovely person…
And you forgot to bring some cash at a restaurant that only accepts cash payments. What would you do?”
The great thing about horror stories is that it gets your audience thinking right from the start…
And help you warm up, build rapport, and capture their attention.
Plus, if you could think about a specific horror story that’s actually related to the topic of your speech…
That’s even better!
