SHARDA: A COCONUT SELLER

SHARDA: A COCONUT SELLER

Before we step into any city, we navigate over google, YouTube, and any other social media platform. As a girl who finds, her ancestral roots in Uttar Pradesh and spent more than 15 years in Gujarat. For my education and internship, I had been pulling up the stakes from one city to another, but it was in north India only.?

When I grabbed the job, the organization entailed that I must relocate to Bangalore.?So, I set forth to search for food, where to live, and many more things as it was all about survival. Here,?I would like to give special mention to the climate of Banglore at any minute it will be cold, cloudy, and sunny. It was difficult to acclimatize to this. Too many changes in the surrounding from language to people.

After settling with the whole thing, I met a lady named “Sharda” who was selling coconut.?I usually do not bargain but I opted to drink “nariyal Paani’ on a regular. After the general conversation, we fixed the price.

?Before going to the office, I visit her every day to drink coconut water. We have created a good bond together within 15-17 days. One morning, it was raining too heavily, and I got an early call from the office. I tried booking Rapido but lingered for 15-20 min.?But as a request was declining frequently, I decided to go by bus.?It is rightly, said when you had urgency, all sudden it will bring too many hurdles.

I was running out of cash. But anyhow I must reach the office on time. Due to rain, payment declining errors was prevailing frequently as the server was getting triggered.?I went directly to Sharda without giving a second thought I asked her for 20 rupees.?

As all women are accustomed to keeping money separately, she wears an apron over her saree which has a side pocket. She immediately gave me Rs 100 and offered nariyal paani as well without asking anything.

I told her, I will return the money in the evening, but it rained 4-5 days consecutively in Bangalore. I was not able to repay the money on time After one week, I went to her shop. Sharda didn’t mention or even asked for the money.

She is not educated but she can know how to interact with customers and what we learned in B-schools. Her smile makes the customer happy and service provides.
