Shaping the new Plusdrie - A deep dive into our new brand identity.
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Plusdrie. Throughout these years, we have successfully delivered world-class digital products for a diverse range of clients, from emerging scale-ups to well-established brands. We don't care about namedropping but if you're curious what we've been working on make sure to check our new site.
Our goal has always been to deliver the best customer experiences. Working on more and more projects over the years also made clear that our clients' branding often wasn't created with digital design in mind, hindering us in delivering the best results possible.
We decided to expand our services with branding by welcoming Hans Muelders as the fourth member of our team. His background in both branding and digital design lets us offer integrated solutions across our projects. We're now able to create brand identities designed with digital in mind from the beginning, enhancing brand excitement and recognition.
Setting the foundation of our brand.
Our new proposition, combined with the fact that we've been so externally focussed that we may have slightly neglected our own brand, made it the right moment to re-establish our brand identity.
Like everyone else we often get stuck in the belief that we fully understand who we are and what sets us apart, yet we find it difficult to critically evaluate ourselves.
As we do for our own clients, we've started this process with a brand workshop to better understand who we are, what we stand for, recognise opportunities, acknowledge our existing strengths and define who we want to become.
We've alway's been committed to provide solutions rooted in strategic design thinking that not only solve problems but also create moments of delight and ease in every interaction. Brands turn to us because of this vision on design.
Our formula for success: a well-balanced, senior team plus direct co-founder participation in every project, ensuring you the best of our expertise and capabilities. We believe that personal commitment leads to the best results. By investing time to understand our clients' business, we can identify opportunities and provide optimal solutions. Our size allows us to work agile and function as an extension of our clients' team. There is no B-team, you always work with the same experienced individuals.
In creating our new brand it was essential to highlight the boutique aspect of our studio. Balancing confidence with being approachable became the guiding principle for our new identity.
Updating our logo
In the past, our name was often misinterpreted, especially by our international clients. The layout of our old logo was a bit complex resulting in us being referred to as Plus3, DreiPlus +3, and other variations. To avoid confusion, we have adopted a wordmark that spells out our name 'Plusdrie', honoring our Dutch roots. Our custom, all-lowercase lettering is easy to read, reflecting our aim to be a friendly and accessible design partner.

Implementing typography.
Typography is one of the key aspects to infuse character and elevate the overall aesthetics of your identity. To express confidence in our identity we set out to find an outspoken font which feels special and distinctive, allowing us to stand out among competitors.
We found these characteristics in Acma which is both expressive and refined. To maintain legibility we pair Acma with Neue Montreal, an accessible and well balanced font better suited for larger sections of text.
The fonts we picked allow us to communicate a deeper sense of emotion, tone, and personality enhancing the overall impact of our message.
Creating colourful patterns.
In the age of apps and social media, brands can't get away without an icon which nicely fits a 1:1 tile. Our logomark is a 'P' made from two circular shapes which also forms the basis of our brand pattern. This design speaks to the concept that 'The whole is greater than the sum of its parts', where 1+1 equals 3.
Taking inspiration from the Bauhaus movement, we've created colorful patterns that balance playfulness with professionalism. This is achieved by arranging shapes, both circular and angular, within a geometric grid we can play around with to create an almost endless list of combinations. These patterns represent our commitment to creating delightful solutions by combining insights with creativity.
A foundation to build on.
Our new brand better reflects the beliefs and achievements of our studio. It positions us a design partner with a history of crafting world-class digital products.
The new identity featuring expressive typography, colours and patterns underscores our commitment to delivering delightful design solutions. It not only honors our past but also allows us to confidently step into the future. This solid foundation will allow us to continue expanding our identity in the coming years.
