Shaping My Professional Path as An Apprentice

The highlight of my apprenticeship journey so far has been witnessing the completion of a construction project I've been actively involved in. There's a large sense of satisfaction in seeing the conclusion of our collective efforts materialise into a tangible result

?Why did you choose to do an Apprenticeship?

I opted for the apprenticeship route as I wanted to kickstart my career straight out of sixth form. Upon exploring the offerings of a degree apprenticeship, it became the obvious choice for me. The opportunity to acquire new skills while obtaining a higher education qualification suited my aspirations perfectly. In your opinion, what are the benefits of being an apprentice?

The top three benefits of being an apprentice are; Firstly, you gain practical skills daily through hands-on experience. Secondly, you have the opportunity to work with a diverse and collaborative team, and most importantly, apprenticeships offer the advantage of earning a full-time salary without accumulating student debt!

What appealed to you about working in Real Estate? What do you like about working for Cushman & Wakefield?

The dynamic nature of the real estate industry is what initially attracted me, as it offers constant evolution and change. Joining Cushman & Wakefield, an industry leader, presents an exciting opportunity to contribute and make an impact, big or small! I am drawn to the idea of being part of a team that drives innovation and excellence in an ever-changing industry and believe Cushman & Wakefield provides the perfect platform for me to do so.

?What is the structure of your apprenticeship? For example, how do you balance work and study?

My apprenticeship follows a structured routine where I dedicate four days a week to work and reserve one day for focused study towards my degree. While the five-year duration may seem daunting initially, I've found that time flies when you're fully engaged in the learning process. My experiences so far have significantly enhanced my organisation skills and time management abilities, benefiting not only my professional growth but my social life.

?What has been the highlight of your apprenticeship so far?

The highlight of my apprenticeship journey so far has been witnessing the completion of a construction project I've been actively involved in. There's a large sense of satisfaction in seeing the conclusion of our collective efforts materialise into a tangible result. It not only validates the hard work put into the project, but also serves as a reminder of the impact I'm making in the real world through my apprenticeship

Can you describe any particular clients or projects that you’ve been involved in?

My most rewarding project was being part of the team appointed to manage the CAT A+ refurbishment works of a Grade II listed townhouse and warehouse. The works spanned over 3 months with a contract value of £1.2m. This was one of the first projects I was involved in, allowing me to contribute from start to finish.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to become an apprentice?

My advice for any aspiring apprentice is to be a sponge! Take in everything you do, asks millions of questions, and never underestimate the value of your own ideas and perspectives; as apprentices we usually have the best ideas!
