Shaping Lives

Chomrong , Day 3 of the trek.

The steep ascent yesterday brought us to Chomrong, a village nestled at an altitude of 2,600 mt. / 8530 ft. ?

Annapurna South, Hiunchuli.

We woke up this morning to a cloud laden sky, as we prepared to ascend to our next stop, Bamboo, on the way to Macchapuchare.

Behind the clouds that briefly parted, were the inspiring peaks of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Macchhapuchare.

Macchapuchare

As we set out on foot from Chomrong, with the aim of reaching the Base Camp in three days, we came across a Buddhist monastery, with the ubiquitous prayer flags and prayer wheels, all bearing the oft chanted "Om Mani Padme Hum". ?Although, unfamiliar with the meaning, I took a moment to offer prayers for the safety and success of our trekking team, my team at BLT and most significantly, the children.

After a walk of more than five hours, that takes us to Bamboo, another picturesque village, with green bamboo shoots growing all around; I now understand “Om Mani Padme Hum” to be a prayer for Compassion, Wisdom and Enlightenment! - just what we seek for the children of the Shaping?Lives? project. I am doing this trek to raise funds for Shaping Lives project. Please Donate.
