Shaping the Future of Semiconductors: SEMICON India 2024

What a way to come back home to our nation's capital, New Delhi! It was a privilege to attend an engaging exhibition and to welcome one of Vinicio’s global clients, Jipal Team, key players in the semiconductor industry who are now exploring the promising opportunities in India.

#SEMICONIndia2024, inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on September 11, has been a landmark event. Our Prime Minister's vision of positioning India as a global hub for #semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development was evident throughout the event. The theme of the three-day conference, "Shaping the Semiconductor Future," showcased India's comprehensive semiconductor strategy and policy, highlighting its goal of becoming a global leader in this critical industry.

For me personally, attending this large-scale exhibition brought back memories of my early career days when I worked closely with manufacturing companies, even though I wasn’t in a client-facing role at the time. This event felt like a full-circle moment, as I now have the opportunity to engage with global leaders and support their exploration of India’s expanding semiconductor landscape.

As a #WomenEntrepreneur, #BusinessConsultant, and #Academician, one of the most striking observations from this experience was how male-dominated the semiconductor industry remains. It highlights the ongoing gap in encouraging women’s education in STEM fields, an area that needs immediate focus and support.

With India's aspiration to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025, sunrise sectors such as electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, semiconductors, and electronics manufacturing hold the potential to transform the country’s economic landscape. These industries are receiving renewed focus from the government, and the opportunities for the youth to step into manufacturing are vast.

I was especially delighted to capture moments with women in manufacturing from across the globe—an inspiring reminder that the future is open for everyone, and women have a vital role to play in this transformation.
