The Shape Of A Point Of View

To integrate core values and life-shaping experiences into our personal expression about the world in front of us is a wonderful freedom and opportunity.

And, to feel like our true voice is heard by the right people helps to balance a critical scale in our day-to-day existence.

Evolving our point of view not only influences our conversations but it determines the topics with which we engage… and with whom we share ideas.

Far more than a spirited exchange of words, such conversations account for major expenditures of energy and powerful feelings that affect choices, actions, and priorities.

So, it’s worth asking:

What influences the topic of our conversations?

If the answer is anything else besides “I do,” a pause may be worthy of consideration.

There are strategic and determined external mechanisms of information programmed to exploit every possible entry into the space from which we form our opinions. As these mechanisms gain more access to the narrative, they take more control of our game.

If we want to shift and improve upon the nature of our conversations, this precious space of reflection must be more than protected — it must be exercised every day… starting with our own voice. Not theirs.

The awareness to walk away from a news binge, endless scrolling, and conversations we don’t particularly enjoy arrives neither quickly nor easily. After all, the opposition deployed a laser-focused campaign beginning a long time ago to achieve its current position.

But to choose differently is possible.

A simple walk outside or time to sit quietly initiates a different journey…

Towards the conversations that truly matter…

That shape the most meaningful points of view.

With gratitude, Joe

I really enjoyed this Joe Jacobi "to feel like our true voice is heard" "this precious space of reflection must be more than protected — it must be exercised every day… starting with our own voice.?Not theirs." "But to choose differently is possible." This reminds me of a movie I watched recently about an author. Her father told her to listen to her voice. Sometimes this means shutting out the outside world for a bit in order to hear it.

Definitely! We should interrogate ourselves about our core values... sometimes we don't even know them!?? Thanks for sharing, Joe ??
