Shanghai port suspends operations in response to new typhoon Muifa.

Asia's largest container port is bracing for its second major storm this month, with the ports of Shanghai and Ningbo due to halt operations as Typhoon Muifa approaches, Bloomberg reported.

The typhoon is likely to make landfall late Wednesday, September 14, between Ningbo and the city of Zhoushan in Zhejiang province, which has raised the level of emergency response to the storm, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

Muifa is currently northeast of Taiwan, with winds of 104 miles (167 kilometers) per hour and gusts of up to 127 miles per hour, according to the U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center. The typhoon follows closely on the heels of Super Typhoon Hinnamnor, which passed up the coast last week, temporarily shutting down Shanghai's main container port, Yangshan.

Yangshan and other container terminals will begin disrupting some operations on Tuesday night, September 13, and all facilities will close the following day, Wednesday morning, according to a statement from the Port of Shanghai. The Meishan container terminal in Ningbo will close at midnight on Tuesday.
