Shanessa Toniello: Supporting Saskatchewan Through SaskEnergy’s Community Investment Program
Whether it’s a small-town fair or the Grey Cup Festival, Shanessa Toniello’s role with SaskEnergy's Community Engagement team allows her to make a big difference in Saskatchewan communities!
"It feels great to be able to give back to the community. It’s a feel-good job.”
Every year, SaskEnergy sponsors hundreds of non-profit organizations. This includes large events like the Saskatchewan Winter Games or smaller events like a community clean-up.
Shanessa helps assess and process sponsorship requests, whether it is for cash or promotional items. She also gets to oversee charitable events or programs that SaskEnergy sponsors, such as the Share the Warmth program.
“Going to an event and seeing what our sponsorship commitments do for the community is very heart-warming. It’s nice to see the work we do behind the scenes come to life.”
With SaskEnergy being Saskatchewan’s “Champion of Volunteers”, Shanessa also gets to meet many of the people in the community who selflessly give their time to make events a success.
“We’re proud to support volunteers and acknowledge the incredible work they do to make events a success in their community. My favourite part of the job is being able to witness an event come together and seeing volunteers in action.”
Shanessa joined SaskEnergy as co-op student from the University of Regina in 2017, prior to completing her Business Administration degree and a Public Relations certificate. With all the experience she gained at SaskEnergy as a co-op student, she was a natural fit for a vacant position that opened on the team in 2019.
“I was really grateful for the experience that my co-op position gave me. SaskEnergy has been a great place to start my career. I enjoy working for an organization that gives back to the community!”
