Shame on for those who are making money on propagating haters!
I am proud of being a Dutch citizen . A lot of factors that made me proud of. The people of the Netherlands are freedom lovers. Complaining the government is not unusual. Most people complain the new policies , government structure & authorities for nothing but for seeking truth & freedom. Unfair treatments and discrimination have no place through out the society. This does not mean everybody is fair and indiscriminatory . Like other society , there are extremist people here and there. What I want to explore is the power of rule of law in the entire country.
At the very first , chapter one of the constitution of the kingdom of the Netherlands Article one says , ‘’ All persons in the Netherlands shall be treated equally in equal circumstances. Discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief, political opinion, race or sex or on any other grounds whatsoever shall not be permitted’’. This article is the most practical article not only for citizens but also for those who live in the country.
I am not a political analyst , I am trying to write what I am experiencing lively. Hence; everything runs according to the rule of laws. Institutions are very strong , most universities are in the list of top hundreds of universities of the world. For example, according to https://www.topuniversities.com/.../world-university.../2021 , in 2021, all 13 universities in the Netherlands are in top 300 universities. One of these top universities , Leiden university has a department called African studies center. In this center , one can find a lot of researches on political histories, ancient African government structures, African economic and political challenges, cultural resources and of course African future hopes.
There are also different papers on Ethiopia & Ethiopians. Latest, African Studies Centre, Leiden University ASC Working Paper 150 / 2021, 2 nd edition , explore the situation in Ethiopia, Tigray Region. The author of this paper, Jon Abbink, exposed counter-productive statements and data-poor policies of the EU and the USA on the Tigray conflict. Jon Abbink evidenced The Atlantic Community mistake on Ethiopia step by step. This paper explores the following fact sequentially.
1. The Tigray conflict and the struggle for ‘truth’
2. The need for informed decisions
3. Responses of the ‘international community’
3.1 EU
3.2 USA
3.3 UN
4. Social media war and cyberspace obfuscation
5. Analyzing (mis)information)
As I think the truth is in this paper although I am not the fan of the present situation through out the country in Ethiopia. It is not a matter of supporting the government or opposing it. It is always good to be on the side of the truth. Politicians are trying to manipulate the people by giving intangible hopes. They are also propagating haters. We don’t want to see the starvation of Tigreayan people. We don’t want to see the death and Persecution of ordinary people based on their ethnicity and political stands. This is not only for Ethiopian people but also for our entire world. Sustainability shall be based on the truth and facts. Here we can say Shame on the USA policy makers and few EU authorities. They tried to deny the truth. And as Jon Abbink evidenced the reality , the Dutch society will support the truth not the conspiracy.
