SHAME!

While many #HARDWORKING girls struggle to find a (new) job, some like to promote being lazy on theirs proudly.
Lazy and work don't go in the same sentence if you ask me.
As a marketer, I am present on most social media apps, but the madness that keeps coming from that scary TikTok “machine” keeps surprising me, so no wonder “40% of business leaders think recent Gen Z college graduates aren’t prepared to enter the workforce, a new survey says – and some said they won’t even hire them”, according to the Business Insider, who wrote both articles on two different topics, but obviously with the exact source of the issue.
I don’t say everyone should be ambitious or think the hard work is justified only if you work 24/7.
As a matter of fact, recently, one company decided not to hire me because I was very clear about my boundaries and “work-life balance”, which seems to become only a poor platitude and not what it should really represent – a HEALTHY WORKING ENVIRONMENT, not the Game of Thrones playfield, where you will probably only end up dead!
(metaphorically speaking)
The problem lies in promoting certain work behaviours; I can’t even call them ethics; that shouldn’t take place in any environment unless we talk about Lazy Sunday – which we all know what it represents. Italians have the best term – Dolce Farniente – meaning - Sweetness of doing nothing.
Habiti, that’s nice from time to time, but not where you get paid to do YOUR #JOB.
And once I read about this 38-year-old marketer stating she is doing “COPY-PASTE” while calling it UNIQUE, it simply insults not only my intelligence but also my profession and the HARD WORK behind it when you do THE REAL #MARKETING & #COMMS!
This is not the first time my brain got boiled by reading those insights, mostly related to the TikTok factory and their creators that should simply be banned with that kind of content.
Back home, we had a saying: "There is no bread without a hoe," and I was raised on those principles.
I will repeat, I don’t judge anyone for not having the passion to gain a successful career or even the will to work. I also don’t judge/overlook those going after easy money and finding the easiest way to get it. I also greatly respect mothers who want to stay home with their kids because being a mom is a full-time job!

God forbids me to judge anything or anyone. Still, I am strongly against giving a place in media for brainwashing kids with zero clues about REAL LIFE and what it actually takes to EARN – your salary, and maybe the place in the society.
Well, honey, be lazy at your work, but YOU DON’T GET TO SIT WITH ME!
Because the seat at my table is reserved for those who inspire me, someone I can learn from or at least have a decent and intellectual conversation with.
That rule applies both to my personal and professional life.
I am sure every single one of you has at least one person you see as an inspiration, as someone you admire, your biggest role model.
I am also sure those personas never ended up in a documentary telling a story about how LAZY they were, or bored, and how proud they were for simply doing nothing except posting videos on their TikTok, which made them famous!
And when it comes to those sky-rocket numbers, don’t get confused. Those millions of VIEWS don’t represent the real VALUE which is equal to very similar psychological phenomena you see happening with the black chronicle. People will always get attracted to drama and stories that provoke some shock.
Well, reading those two articles, I was not shocked, quite contrary, but they did provoke me and inspired me to write an article of my own!
Do you remember the song lyrics from Black Eyed Peas:
“What's wrong with the world, mama?
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas.”
I guess, They don’t need Mama when they have TikTok to raise them!
So please, Remember, consuming destructive content is equal to consuming, for instance, bad food. You’ll end up with the same results – lousy digestion, feeling sick, looking fat, and being unhealthy and very unhappy.?

1 年Very nice post, Dora! ???? But on the positive side, there's less competition in the market. ??

1 年When I read the title I thought about my university roommate and her plan to be a teacher because she could dress up nicely and attend only few classes per week while having stress free life and work that pays her bills. But when I read your article it turned out to be totally different thing. This is not lazy girl job, it is an autopilot video content addict zombie life. We as women yet have so few good examples of how to navigate our business lives, how and which path to choose, how to realize our potential and just be happy with being who we are, so these videos is another level of toxicity which disorientates young women. I am both sad and optimistic. I am optimistic because you set an example and you openly share your opinion.

1 年And it seems we won't get rid of girl bosses and girl jobs any time soon. I wonder why there are no boy bossess and boy jobs.
