Shalomesq Snippet Weekly LinkedIn Newsletter #12

Hello Family & #TGTIG!! (Thank God Today Is Great),

It's the 29th of November 2024 & its beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere I go!!

Yesterday Thursday 28th was THANKSGIVING & I am super thankful for my life, my wife & kids, extended family, friends, colleagues & for the privilege to enjoy where I am now on the way to where I am going.

Tomorrow is the last day in November & we will step into the last month of 2024, its round 12 of 12 now & it's a good time to FINISH STRONG.

I have ion last couple of days watching the NETFLIX documentary called SPRINT & it's given me immense insights into the world of track & field athletes especially those that run the 100m & 200m sprint events.

It's good start well, maintaining & regulating your pace is great, but nothing is as glorious as finishing strong.

How are you doing with your set goals & targets for 2024?

How are things moving along towards achieving those goals & targets?

What % completion rate are you at considering the days we have left in 2024?

What are the things you will need to adjust to finish strong & get a good start in 2025?

If you need support, you can reach out to me here on LinkedIn & I will be more than happy to help.

You can also book a call with me here

This is our 12th weekly LinkedIn newsletter as a brand (Shalomesq Snippet) & we happy we could publish consistently despite all of the various activities & projects we were engaged in.

Career Acceleration

Last month, I had the privilege of speaking at a Career Acceleration Summit 2024 ( CAS 24) & It was a fantastic time.

You can enjoy my session titled "Essential Work Ethics for Career Advancement & Acceleration" & I would appreciate your feedback on things to do to improve my level of delivery & engagement.

For this month, I am inspired to discuss along the career lines & share some snippets that I am sure will be of help to people on their career journey.

No matter what level you are right now, there will be something to gain & glean from these discussions.

Career was also the domain we looked at for the 2nd month of our 9-month mentorship program. Now in the 3rd month we are looking at Physical Health & Fitness.

Last week's Newsletter

in our 11th Newsletter last week, we started to look at the 7Ps to a Great LinkedIn Profile with a shot at the 1st 3Ps.

This week, we conclude on the next 4Ps.

7Ps for a Great LinkedIn Profile

#1 Perfect Alignment

#2 Proper Profile

#3 Pursue Value

#4 Project Respect

Respect is a 2-way street, to get respect you must give respect. I ensure (as a matter of policy) that I engage people with respect on a regular basis.

For a professional networking platforms that LinkedIn is, I get regular inbox messages from sales/marketing agents, business executives & others who by virtue of my profile details reach out to me to sell their products & services or just to connect with me in anticipation of future business transactions.

I take their inbox messages seriously, for the sales/marketing agents I basically appreciate them reaching out & respectfully decline their sales pitch if I’m not interested or ask more questions when I’m interested.

One thing I also do is to checkout their profiles & be sure they are authentic. If they don’t have a proper profile picture or a well define profile structure (remember #2 above), I ask them to do so or I respectfully disengage.

Respect attracts respect. Be respectful!

#5 Provide Authenticity

Authenticity is becoming a rare trait in the world of social media & virtual connections as we live in now. It’s becoming very critical for individuals & even businesses to always come across as authentic & genuine.

I take it as a point of duty to project authenticity & genuineness in my profile & postings on LinkedIn.

I want to be able to properly defend any information on my profile & postings and I also seek authentic connections. As I stated in #4 above, I don’t engage if your profile has no picture, no verifiable information & no form of genuineness.

Be authentic as you share your story (career & personal) while protecting the personalities involved.

It will be counterproductive to share a story that is work related & call out your boss, HR or your company on LinkedIn (Guess what? They are also on this platform too).

In recent times, I am getting to meet people in real life who I have connected to on social media for years.

And it's amazing how some people are so authentic that we recognize each other & pick up conversations like we've met before while for some it's just a total disconnect from what they project online.

?#6 Perpetually Evolve

Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher said, “Change is the only constant in life.” I like to put it this way “Be in a constant state of flux”. If something is in a state of flux, it is constantly changing.

Another thing I do on a regular basis is to always look for opportunities to evolve, to change positively no matter how little it is.

I’m constantly working on my profile, constantly looking for quality connections, constantly adding value.

In addition to my blogs, I sometimes launch a dedicated hashtag series (like #peperthemwell) or some inspirational program like Achiever's Zone which is dedicated to helping people to setting, tracking & achieving their goals for the year.

You will see more details about Achiever's Zone in the sections below.

?#7 Purposeful Connections

I am intentional about my connections on LinkedIn, apart from my family, friends & colleagues (i.e. people I truly know) I also seek purposeful connections.

Like I mentioned before, in some cases people reach out to me with connection requests & I accept or deny based on the above listed points/criteria, however most of the time also I reach out intentionally to those that meet the same set of criteria too.

Maybe I attended a meeting or conference & someone stood out for me amongst the panelists or speakers, my 1st action will be to look the person up on LinkedIn & then send them a connection invite sometimes with a message saying “I just listened to you deliver a talk or lecture at xxxxxx & I was blown away. It would be an honor if you will accept my connection request & hope we can derive mutual value in the process”. This works 100% of the time.

Sometimes I’ve had to subscribe to LinkedIn Premium & pay for a month or so while trying to reach a connection & I must say it pays off at the end of the day as some connections have inestimable value like that.

I’ve gotten better, wiser & richer with my connections on LinkedIn.

Be intentional about your connections

These are my 7Ps of LinkedIn, let me know what you think in the comments section

God bless you all!
