“Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I hate when people tell me they’re lucky. Truth be told is that they’ve built strong wills and souls. You don’t just show up and let the magic happen. You have to work your tail off and put yourself in the position to get noticed. Practice makes perfect. Actually, perfect practice makes perfect. I’m going to lay it on the line here for you. Stop talking and start to discipline yourself in order to get where you’re trying to go. Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint.

I’m going to give you some strategies that will help you position yourself to “get lucky”. It all starts with a plan. Write it down. It doesn’t do any good if it’s stuck in your head. There’s a lot of air space up there. Identify your key strengths and weaknesses and build upon your strengths and learn from your weaknesses. Stop looking for the easy way out. It doesn’t exist unless you’re a trust fund baby, who happens to have no conflicts, obstacles, or concerns (and believe me this is rare - with money, comes obstacles). If you want something, you have to internalize it until it becomes real. Write it down over and over until you own it. I think it’s so interesting when people get so close to success and then just give up...I really wonder why this happens so frequently. Work on your internal clock first and build up your intestinal fortitude. The way to build up your soul is by doing mindfulness and meditation. It will allow you to get inside yourself and do some self discovery work. We have a coach for all aspects of our lives, why not be our own coach for our minds.

I’ve done a lot of work on myself. I have to say, it’s hard work to admit your fears and be able to talk openly about them. I have several fears that I’m constantly working on...failure, not being able to deliver a promise, rejection. That’s why I underpromise and overdeliver. I hate when people are talking critically about me, being able to accept the criticism and deal with it is something I’ve learned to do over my years. Look in the mirror and realize you have work to do. Always having to prove myself is hard when you have had successes and people second guess you. Have the self confidence to deal with it. Write down your fears and start to look at them...admit them to yourself and address them. Watch out world, the best version of yourself is here. Remember, this is all about you and your fears. If you can conquer your fears, omg...you got this. It’s not about luck, it’s about building your playbook and being mindful.

Believe in your journey. You can only get lucky if you put the work in.

Mindfulness cones into play often in my peer work. Most people have 1 foot in yesterday and I foot in tomorrow and lose the importance being present. If we remain in the present it's so much easier to go about your business. Thank you for posting.
