Shake replacements? Yay or Nay?

Meal replacement shakes..
I've had a few questions in this and this is something I don't allow my clients to use.. Soo why?
Although, convenient replacing meals isn't going to teach you how to eat in a healthy way so that you can maintain any weight loss for the long-term. I mean the reason most gain weight is because they are eating too much or not eating the right foods. So do I want a person to leave me not understanding how to manage without me? Nope..
Can you lose weight? Yes.. Will it be fast? Most likely.. Will the weight stay off? In most cases no. Let's be serious, are you really going to drink shakes for the rest of your life? What will shakes do to teach you how to eat properly with REAL food?
Most also don't contain everything you need when it comes to a healthy diet.
Meal replacements miss the mark when it comes to the eating and enjoyment. So at Thanksgiving dinner.. Are you skipping the turkey? "I'll just have my shake thanks!"
This isn't teaching individuals how to manage themselves on a social level. I personally would rather teach my clients how to eat real food and teach strategy then giving them a bandaid!
If you desire long term weight loss put some effort into it and do it the right way!!
There may be an occasion that a meal replacement shake may be needed however this shouldn't be the basis of your diet. This should be treated like an if needed "break glass" situation.
My advice- learn food prep, time management, learn what's a healthy choice in social settings and you'll be golden!

8 年i dont like shakes to be honest. it just doesnt feel natural to me. i mean who knows whats really in the powder shakes. i prefer to eat clean and natural and get my vitamins and nutirents from clean healthy and natural eating.

8 年Shakes are a great substitute for 'on the go' days but not a long term replacement. I enjoy the taste of mine and it stops me from looking for sugar, still need to exercise though. Everything in moderation!

8 年Yay and shakes are good for the in between meals And really not for anything else . You need to learn how to eat for every day way of life not some short term fad.
