Microsoft has recently announced new Mobile Application for SharePoint during "Future of SharePoint" event.
Although, it took them quite a long time to come up with an mobile-app but those who works on SharePoint knows very well :). Underlying architecture of previous version of SharePoint (2010) was not robust and required special designing skills to make it work on Mobile/Tablet. Another reason was rivalry with Apple and growing iPad market share which is not the case anymore. As Surface Pro is giving Apple very tough fight. I remember struggling time explaining Senior Executives about why SharePoint doesn't provide same functionality on Mobile as it does on Desktop. Having said that, future of existing apps (Colligo, Briefcase) doesn't looks bright as Microsoft has finally decided to address long pending issue.
Under new Management MSFT has adopted KILLER strategy which is extremely difficult to beat for any organization and its called "Feedback Loop"
Here is couple of examples :
Upcoming SharePoint Mobile App with Feedback Option
Consistent Feedback banner across the sites
But, the million dollar question is how it has paid off?
Yes, there are million other factors responsible for this consistent growth but continuously improving all line of products and that is also based on customer feedback can't be ignored.
It might be quite overwhelming for MSFT customers and IT Professionals to coupe up with this continuous change but this has made significant difference in MSFT growth.
Constantly, improving line of products like SharePoint, Office 365, Azure, OneDrive, Office, and etc. MSFT has become some short of Genie. Ask and you shall receive :)
Perhaps, this is what industry has been demanding for quite a long period of time. Moving, forward let's see what else this Genie is going to offer.
I'd conclude by saying that "Feedback Loop" is the one of the best strategy for any organization to adopt who wants to survive in this cut throat competition.
