While the UK has seen success with projects like The Shard, financed through Sukuk, challenges remain. Shaista notes that scepticism and a lack of understanding hinder the industry’s growth. “Islamic Finance is still in its infancy and building within a 400-year-old conventional system takes time,” she explains.
