The Shadow in my Mind

Oh! I wish I could dance like her, but I am not that type. We often wish we possess traits and qualities of openness, that others seem to display with total aplomb. Voices?bind us to our upbringing or what we ourselves consider not correct, or what is not in sync with our projected image thus limiting our growth . While we secretly wish we could be more open the conflict in our mind restricts us and we box ourselves by convincing others that we are not “comfortable”
Are we really not comfortable or is that image not palatable to you?
Being self-conscious, we fear embarrassment and hence hide behind excuses. Its only a small step in the direction that we want to experience but it seems to loom large in front of us. Often we nurture a sense of regret and opportunities missed.
Think about it? Had you allowed the light of experimenting to enter maybe a shadow in your mind could have been expelled, or at least faded. Critically stereotyping ourselves help us to remain in our comfort zone however they hinder our progress to explore and understand ourselves better.
As the saying goes “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from doing what you once thought you couldn’t.”
