Shab-e She’r XCV: Fundraiser Report
Shab-e She’r’s 95th event was a fundraiser for the Woman, Life, Freedom anthology that Cy Strom and I are co-editing.
It was a beautiful night of stellar art and community.
Much love to all the poets, writers, speakers, musicians, and visual artists who participated in our event and/or donated their art: Amber, Ann Bald-Bloom, Corrado Paina, Cory Weaver, Cy Strom, Daniel Maluka, Diane Roblin, George Walker, Katerina Fretwell, Lillian Allen. Marty Smith, Mohineet Kaur Boparai, Nora Camps, Sahar Golshan, Shahriyar Jamshidi, and Sonja Greckol.
Big love to the Shab-e She’r team who worked tirelessly during the event and behind the scenes to make it happen: Roxana Khoshravesh (posters and photography), Mārta Ziemelis (Land Acknowledgment and door), Pouria Saffaran (reading message from Chris Glover, MPP, and door), Golnaz Taherian (door), and Paul Edward Costa (photography). And all our love to Giovanna Riccio, who assisted us capably and enthusiastically.
Thanks to the Tranzac for the beautiful space and to their tech staff for sound and light effects.
Thanks to the artists who volunteered to perform and donated their work to the cause, as well as to everyone who promoted the event and the Shab-e She’r team, we raised $1,025 through the door and $670 through the sale of artwork. And to everyone who attended and to everyone who bid on the artworks: We couldn’t have done it without you! The money we raised brought us a little closer to our fundraising goal, but we have much more work to do.

That is why the link to the online fundraiser on GoFundMe will remain active. Donate and spread the word to people, organizations, and groups. As it is an online link, do not limit yourself to Canada. Think globally, as the anthology itself is an act of global solidarity:
