Shab-e She’r Poetry Open Mic @UofA LXXXIX on November 29th, 2022, was our second event in Edmonton, Alberta. It coincided with our 10th anniversary.
In this new format, we are strictly open mic. As usual, participants can share poetry in any language, accent, or style. We are open to everyone including the U of A/ Alberta/ Canada AND international community.
Our values are diversity and freedom of expression. We believe the answer to a poem is another poem. We welcome people from all backgrounds, communities, ethnicities, nationalities, religions (or lack thereof), (dis)abilities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, poetic styles, voices, and visions. We invite participants to listen with openness and speak with courage.
We had 25 people in the beautiful Student Lounge at Arts/Convocation Hall, University of Alberta Campus. We also had 17 people on the open mic:
