Shab-e She’r Poetry September 2024 Report

Shab-e She’r (Poetry Night) CIV on September 24, 2024, was an unforgettable event. Our features Marusya Bociurkiw and Mosab Al Nomairy offered outstanding sets of poetry.

We had twelve people on the open mic:

And, at the end, I also recited a poem.

Boundless love to the Shab-e She’r team for their hard work and commitment: Mārta Ziemelis (set-up, land acknowledgement, and door), Shannon Lintott (set-up and photography), Akkas Bashi (set-up and time-keeping), Roxana Khoshravesh (posters).

We heard Ukrainian, Arabic, Persian, English. We heard poems translated from other languages into English. We heard poems written in English.

?

Much love to our amazing features for their poetry and community building, to our open-mic’ers, and to the best audience in the world.

Thanks to the Tranzac for the beautiful space. Thanks to everyone who spread the word and invited friends. And thanks to all who helped us stack the chairs at the end of the night.
