What is a highlight of your career so far?
I’m proud of many moments, but two stand out: knowing the value I bring and being part of an organization that appreciates that value, and working with a dynamic team that consistently strives for innovation and excellence. Both make my role deeply fulfilling.
Why did you now choose to get involved with SFU in this way?
Joining the Alumni Council felt like a meaningful way to give back to a community that shaped me. During COVID, I saw a gap in networking and community for students, and this role allowed me to support building those connections again. It’s also an exciting time to raise awareness of the Council’s work and ensure diverse input in SFU’s strategic initiatives.

In your opinion, what are the benefits of staying connected to your alma mater, especially at this stage of your career and life?
There’s a powerful connection among SFU alumni—a shared experience that binds us, no matter our fields or careers. Alumni are leaders, innovators, and drivers in their communities worldwide. Being part of this community allows us to celebrate accomplishments and take pride in our association. Serving on the Excellence in Teaching awards committee reminded me of SFU’s impressive strides in research and program innovation. Learning about these initiatives made me excited and proud for today’s and future students.
What is one piece of advice you’d like to pass along to current students who are close to graduation or recently graduated?
Stay curious and be a good listener. Build a quality network for support, feedback, and friendship. And prioritize health—taking care of yourself is essential to showing up fully in your work and life.
