SFNA Launches to Empower Future Nurse Anesthetists

Greenville, SC – August 19, 2024 The Society of Future Nurse Anesthetists (SFNA) is thrilled to announce its official launch. As a new nonprofit organization, SFNA is dedicated to empowering critical care nurses and aspiring nurse anesthetists through comprehensive education, mentorship, and resources. Founded by Kiki Mattress, MSNA, CRNA, the organization aims to foster academic success and professional growth for those on the path to becoming Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).

Our Origin Story: From Blog to Thriving Community

SFNA's journey began with “The CRNA Chase” blog, where Kiki Mattress shared her experiences and challenges in becoming a CRNA. The blog quickly gained traction, leading to the creation of the Future CRNA Society Facebook group, which now boasts nearly 6,000 members. SFNA is the natural evolution of this thriving community, offering a formal structure and expanded resources to better support its members.

Key Initiatives of SFNA

SFNA is committed to supporting its members through three core initiatives:

  • CRNAMentor Network: Provides tailored mentorship in admissions, health and wellness, learning strategies, and application tips. This network aims to empower applicants and reduce attrition rates by offering personalized guidance.
  • Advanced Learning Center: An online platform offering courses, workshops, and seminars to enhance clinical skills, leadership abilities, and industry knowledge. The center supports continuous professional development with ongoing educational opportunities and continuing education credits.
  • Health and Wellness Resources: Focuses on promoting holistic health, stress management, and overall wellness for ICU nurses and aspiring CRNAs. This initiative aims to improve physical and mental well-being while supporting members' journeys to becoming CRNAs.

A Message from the Founder

“Initially, the blog was a platform to share my CRNA journey, but it soon became clear that many others were going through similar experiences,” says Kiki Mattress, MSNA, CRNA, Founder of SFNA. “This realization highlighted the need for a structured support system, leading to the creation of SFNA as a formal organization with expanded resources to better serve its members.”

Join the SFNA Community

To celebrate its launch, SFNA invites nurses and aspiring nurse anesthetists to join the waiting list to become founding members. Enrollment begins in mid-August, ensuring that the organization is ready to support its new members effectively.
