Sex Worker Giving Circle (SWGC)

Since its inception in 2018, the Sex Worker Giving Circle (SWGC) has made $1.55 million in grants to 36 sex worker-led groups to build safety, self-determination, community power, and systems of mutual aid for sex workers across the U.S.

This year, the SWGC is ready to uphold the community’s leadership within philanthropy once more, and we need your help recruiting the Fellows for this year’s Fellowship program that will make all of the funding decisions!

How will this work and what will Fellows do?

• Training?to distribute funds to sex worker-led projects across the United States.
• Grantmaking?through making collective decisions about who will receive funding.
• Fundraising?through grassroots events and campaigns as decided by the Fellows.
• Philanthropic Advocacy?to shift how philanthropy engages with sex workers and the movement for sex worker liberation.
• Build Community?and relationships with other current and former sex workers.

Duration and Time Commitment:?The program will run from late March through early August, and it will require a time commitment of at least fourteen virtual meetings and independent work.

Payment:?Fellows will receive a $2,000 cash stipend and a $500 food and grocery stipend in recognition of the labor and time that goes into participating in the program.

Who is eligible to become a Fellow?

• Current or Former Sex Workers
• People with Various Class Backgrounds:?This giving circle will be cross-class?and we will be centering participation from working class and low income people.
• People of All Genders:?We encourage men, women, and non-binary, genderqueer, and/or gender non-conforming people to participate.
• People Directly Impacted by Oppression:?This giving circle will be multiracial, intergenerational, and centering sex workers directly impacted by oppression. To learn more about what we mean,?check out the application.
• People Currently Living Everywhere in the US and its Territories, including American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
