SEX SELLS!

Well that's what they say right? The UAV/UAS/FLYING CAR market is no different! As I stated a couple of years ago the toy market would soon have to pivot to pass the "Prosumer" market and transition into the hard commercial market. I also stated that we would soon see major "Blue Chip" companies try to dumb their current knowledge of aviation and engineering in order for there to be viable options.

Today Aston Martin revealed their "flying car concept"

Everyone and anyone is trying to get into this "pie in the sky" idea of developing a transformer that can drive on urban/city streets then all of a sudden jet off into the national air space. and so I must pose this question? Who thought making marijuana legal in California was a good thing for serious tech???

The amount of money that is being poured into this market is nothing short of asinine, but hell why not? All one has to do is pay a graphic artist to come up with some Star Trek shit and have Steven Speilberg produce a 45 second animation clip then PRESTO you're funded!

So as many watch as "Blue Chips" put out sexy graphics and animation. Entities that are looking to a realistic approach and investment in "true autonomy" have to start asking serious questions before writing that blank check.

• What materials are you using to build?
• What is the propulsion?
• What redundancies are in place for catastrophic failures?
• Does the craft have fire retardant capabilities?
• Can the craft auto-rotate in case of 100% power failure?
• Can the craft take advantage of a glide path?
• Is there a ballistic parachute onboard?
• What will the first T1 sample cost?
• What will it cost to have an FAA certification?
• How many countries will the craft have to be certified in?
• What level of autonomy is the craft?
• What type of autonomous avionics will be used?
• Who will provide maintenance?

These are just a few questions that are obviously not being addressed, but when you're stoned, starving and looking at pretty pictures and fancy video who can blame you?
