Sex and Intuition: Neither Benefit From Drilling Down, Analyzing, or Overthinking

Sex and Intuition: Neither Benefit From Drilling Down, Analyzing, or Overthinking

A boy of about 12 or 13, who will not be identified here in any way, sat in front of a fire roasting a marshmallow. A girl of about the same age came over and sat near him, roasting a marshmallow of her own. She drew closer and, in a low voice said, “I think you’re doing a better job roasting your marshmallow than I am.”

He looked at her marshmallow. Then he looked at his own. He said, “No. I think they’re about the same.”

And he went on roasting his marshmallow.

You gotta be clued in to access intuition.?

Or to identify sexual overtures and opportunities for flirting.?

Because the state of mind for both is a flow state, a state your education more than likely did not prepare you for.

Your education taught you to memorize and logically evaluate. It taught you to compare and contrast—at least it did me, as a Literature minor. It taught me to analyze and overthink until my brain hurt.?

And it taught me to doubt myself and to instead find sources and data and cite authorities outside my own organization.

It taught me to research and then research some more.

Sure, there was the occasional odd story of intuitive insight:?

Kekulé dreaming of a snake biting its tail, which, upon awakening, brought the realization that the benzene molecule, whose shape had long puzzled him as well as many other scientists, was in the shape of a ring.

Einstein conducting what he called thought experiments, where, in perhaps the most valuable of these, he rode a light beam through the universe and applied mathematics to describe what he saw in his imagination, resulting in the theory of relativity.

Or Max Planck and Neils Bohr first intuiting the physics of quantum mechanics and then conducting the research to back up their ideas.

But, for the most part, my education drove intuition right out of my mind.

And they I went back and got it.

But your education might have more successfully driven it out. Like the boy in the marshmallow story, you might be missing your intuitive clues altogether.?

Except sometimes. When a thought comes, or a feeling, or just some inarticulate instinctual urge, which you then bludgeon to death with your doubts and analysis.

All right. I’m just going to say it: you don’t know !@#$ about intuition. And what it would uncover in your life and in your business.?

I do.

My childhood neglect provided no one to tell me that what I saw and heard and experienced was not there, thus preserving my intuition. At least in part. Maybe in large part.

And years of writing step-by-step user’s guides for software and hardware led me to create my signature method of teaching intuition in a similar step-by-step manner.

And now years of uncovering information for executives like you, anywhere from the deeply personal to the leading edge of business, have set me up to do three things:

  • Teach you to use your intuition
  • Teach your team or at least a member of your team to use their intuition
  • Or let me get in there and tell you what’s really going on. Or what was going on. Or outline the potential for what will be.

How about it?

Hit me up. Or at least flirt with the idea.

So many leaders rely on logic alone, but intuition separates great decisions from good ones. I love that you’ve developed a step-by-step approach to something most people consider ‘unexplainable.’
