Sex in bed is allowed (even recommended) when insomnia happens.

I am suffering from insomnia. It might be due to the lack of nicotine in my body that makes me anxious, now that I have not smoked for two weeks.?

I have been researching ways to fight insomnia and I have found an interesting treatment: stimulus control (by Richard R. Bootzin, professor of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Arizona). It is based on the hypothesis that sleep would occur as a consequence of bedtime, but other activities in bed are stimuli that would compete with sleep.

This stimulus control treatment consists of the following advice:

  1. Get out of bed when you are not falling asleep
  2. Stay in another room and go back to bed when you are sleepy.

Bedtime is only to sleep, do not watch TV or read in bed.?

Sex is not restricted though (I would say it is recommended).

  1. Repeat these steps as often as necessary throughout the night.?

I would try it and check if it works for me.

But there is something I will do for sure when not falling asleep: using a warm color temperature and dimmed light at night.?

Whereas insomnia is caused by a circadian rhythm misalignment or a psychological reason, light can be a tool to fight it.

Bright blue light can suppress melatonin at night, reinforcing insomnia. So a warm light at night would avoid melatonin suppression to break the vicious cycle when I cannot sleep at night.?

During the day the same blue light keeps our body energetic and also helps release melatonin at night. And this is because our body synchronizes with natural sunlight rhythms, or it should be when exposed to this kind of light, which is uncommon in our modern lifestyle.
