Physical and Chemical Properties
Colorless transparent volatile liquid with gasoline smell. The freezing point is - 94 ℃ and the boiling point is about 49 ℃. The vapor density is 2.4 times that of air. The vapor pressure is 36.6kpa at 20 ℃ and 69kpa at 38 ℃. 745g / cm3 at 20 ℃. Flash point (closed cup) - 37 ℃, flammable. The spontaneous combustion temperature is 361 ℃. The explosion limit (volume fraction) in air is 1.5% ~ 8.7%.
The TLV / TWA limit is generally 600 cm3 / m3. Generally, cyclopentane products should be colorless and transparent liquid without mechanical impurities and suspended solids.
Characteristics and Uses
The ozone depletion potential (ODP value) and the global warming potential (GWP) of cyclopentane are all zero, and are used as foaming agents for rigid polyurethane foam to replace chlorofluorocarbons (CFC-11), which are destructive to the atmospheric ozone layer. They are mainly used in fluorine free refrigerators, freezer industry, cold storage, pipe line insulation and other fields. The solubility of cyclopentane in polyether polyols is small, so it is generally necessary to use low viscosity polyether polyols. Cyclopentane can be mixed with isopentane.
Pentane
Pentane includes n-Alkane and Isopentane. The molecular formula is G5H12 and the relative molecular weight is 72.15.

n-Pentane and isoalkane are colorless and transparent liquid at room temperature, with weak aromatic smell. No olefins, no mechanical impurities and free water.The purity of high purity n-Pentane manufacturered by Junyuan Petroleum Group is 99.5%, the content of n-butane is less than 0.01%, the content of isopentane is less than 0.2%, and the content of C6 is less than 0.3%.
Characteristics and Uses
n-Pentane and Isopentane are obtained from oil field light hydrocarbon by high efficiency distillation. n-Pentane can be used as a desorber in molecular sieve dewaxing process. When mixed with Isopentane in different proportions, n-Pentane can meet the requirements of different foaming degrees, and can be used as an efficient foaming agent for expandable polystyrene. It can be mixed with Cyclopentane and used as Polyurethane Foaming Agent. Isopentane can be used as foaming agent for expandable polystyrene, foaming agent for polyurethane foam system, deasphalting solvent, solvent for catalyst production in polyethylene production, etc. It is generally mixed with cyclopentane and used as foaming agent for rigid polyurethane foam.
Important Reminder:
1. Cyclopentane is flammable and easy to explode, and its explosion limit is (1.4-8.0)%. It is listed as class A and class B fire object in fire fighting. Cyclopentane is also a kind of volatile organic compounds, the volatile amount per hour is 8.5kg/m2, with a light pungent smell. Therefore, there are strict requirements for production equipment, plant, transportation and storage, as well as higher requirements for the quality and safety of employees.
2. Cyclopentane itself has low toxicity, and has the function of de esterification. Once it comes into contact with skin or splashes into eyes, it should be cleaned with clear water immediately. Once cyclopentane leaks, it should be diluted and dispersed with inert gas nitrogen immediately.
