Seven Years of Open Source DevRel Technology Fun With Instaclustr
Seven years ago tomorrow I joined Instaclustr as the first Technology Evangelist to help explain multiple open source Big Data technologies to potential users. Over the last 7 years I've learned each new open source technology that we've added to our managed service platform (and more as there are plenty of complementary open source technologies that work with them to make them even more powerful), come up with realistic use cases, written demo applications, and blogged and talked about them. Along the way, I've also tried to provide added value by giving perspectives from my background in computer science, distributed systems, machine learning, and performance engineering where appropriate.
So after writing 112 blogs (including 2 in draft which will come out soon on Kafka Tiered Storage - there's always something new to learn!), and a grand total of around 250 publications/blogs/talks etc (an estimated 0.75M words = 17 technical books) I'm having a pause for a few months and heading somehwere even more "open" - to the Australian outback (Uluru, a big rock in the middle is the goal) before returning just in time for Community over Code Denver in October and the 6th iteration of the Performance Engineering track - see details here.
If you get bored for something to read while I'm away you can check out my blogs here, articles here and all publications here. And if you missed it, my latest "meta-blog" - everything I know with links to blogs categorised by series/technology/use cases etc here!
More about Uluru and Kata Tjuta ("many heads") here.
