Seven things you should know about the CCIM program in central Florida

I recently attended the 16th Annual Member Appreciation breakfast hosted by the Central District of the Florida CCIM Chapter. The district is a subset of the chapter, which is a subset of the CCIM Institute – an organization with more than 13,000 CCIM designees worldwide. Events similar to this one occur across the country, but the Central District was blessed to hear in-person updates from the top leader from the Institute, Chapter and District. There was much progress to celebrate but several items were particularly noteworthy:

1.      Robin Webb, National President, announced that 2017 will be the 50th Anniversary of the CCIM program.   Robin is a member of the Central District, and continues a long tradition of national leadership by District members.

2.      More than 8,000 practitioners took at least one CCIM course in 2016. Those courses were offered in the USA and eight other countries. About half of the courses taken were core courses (required for designation), and the other half were classes offered by the Ward Center for Real Estate Studies (supplemental topics offered by experts).

3.      The Institute pinned 424 new designees in 2016. 33 of those designees are from the Florida Chapter.

4.      The Florida Chapter ends 2016 with 888 designees (an increase of 135 designees over 2015). Outgoing Florida Chapter President Chere Roane challenged her successor, Scott Lloyd of the Central District, to match her gains and bring the Chapter to more than 1,000 designees by the end of 2017.

5.      The Central District has grown to 239 designees (more than a quarter of all designees in the Florida Chapter) under Bill Dehlinger’s leadership in 2016.

6.      The Central District was busy in 2016, offering seven courses and raising more than $2,000 for the Coalition for the Homeless.

7.      Seven aspiring designees in the Central District earned scholarships toward their core course tuition. Hunter Strickland, Thomas Bolen, Amy Calandrino, Amy Noble, Gonsalvo Senior, Diana Lam and Chris Cucci were recognized for their service to the District and their intent to continue their progress toward the designation.

The future looks extremely bright for the CCIM program at all levels, but particularly in central Florida.
