MANY TIMES OUR HABITS ARE CAUSED BY LIMITING BELIEFS
We tell ourselves, "It doesn't matter because it only causes us minor frustration.?
We develop complacency towards our bad habits, which are caused by our patterns of thinking.
If we don't change our habits, and our thoughts about our habits, we can repeat a self-sabotaging behavior for years or even decades.

HOW YOU DO ONE THING AFFECTS EVERYTHING
I admit that I am a creature of habit. My life is very comfortable.
I love my lovely home in Florida. I enjoy working with my clients from all over the world from home.?
I am a 15-minute drive to the beach, which I love.
I have family and friends I enjoy. I have a special bond with my two dogs, Mandi and Sammy.
I live in a great location, with plenty of shopping, restaurants, my doctors.
I eat out at the same places, order the same foods, do the same workouts, and enjoy the same entertainment.?
To carry out my dream to eventually live part-time in Spain has required me to get outside my comfort zone.?
Getting outside of our comfort zone means we must change
many of our old habits.

SEVEN STEPS TO OVERCOME A BAD HABIT
Remember, change is not easy but is always rewarding.?
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.
? Choose one habit you want to overcome. (one at a time)
? Take 30-40 minutes to contemplate and crystalize WHY and HOW you will CHANGE this habit.
? Write down 5 - 10 ways this bad habit is self-defeating or self-sabotaging to you, your life, and your law practice.
? Write down what will change when you overcome this habit.
? Make changing this habit a goal by writing down three actions you are willing to take each day to overcome this habit.?
? Write down those three actions in your daily schedule and do them each day without missing a day.
? Get an accountability buddy, friend, mentor, or coach to support you in achieving your goal.

2 年Chains of habit is a powerful statement. Stefanie Marrone also recently comment that just because something can be lifted, doesn’t mean it’s not too heavy. How many heavy chains have we carried because we could lift them? Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should. This sounds a lot like my doctor’s instructions to me after two spinal surgeries last summer. ??We shouldn’t wait until we are broken to change behavior.

2 年I really like this quote "First, forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you're inspired or not."- it's very accurate. These are all great tips, but I've discovered that accountability helps me most when I'm trying to drop a difficult habit. Thanks for the added inspiration to my day Pamela DeNeuve!

2 年A post laced with such great quotes and helpful hints Pamela DeNeuve. Habits drive our lives and there is no way to refute that. We can wish for something, but if we don't act in a way that moves us towards, then it is just a wish. Knowledge is great, but we must take action to reach out goals.
