Seven Steps to Boost Your Self-Discipline

Self-discipline, the mother of all qualities and really hard to master in my opinion, but I've kept pushing on a daily basis the last 450 days.

So, how do we master it and make it sustainable?

I brake it down in seven steps ?

I see it as a function of me loving myself. Because I love myself, I will treat myself as somebody I love.

It’s not about yelling at yourself in your head and disrespecting yourself and calling yourself names.

That’s not a long-term solution and will affect your self-esteem in a negative way.

Self-discipline ???? self-love!?

And Self-love is a spiral ?, meaning, it can give you discipline but discipline can also give you self-love and self-respect.?

Accept that being a disciplined version of yourself is inevitable

Picture yourself who you would look like if you were self-disciplined.

If you did the things that you said you would do who you would be.

Some questions to ask:

?? What would your day look like??

??What would you wear?

?? What would you eat?

?? What would your week look like?

?? What would you do for work?

?? Who would you surround yourself with?

?? What do you think and feel??

??What are you saying no or yes to?

Then fully accept that you, at one point, will be this person.?

You might meet some resistance in your head but push through.

???????? ?????????? - ?????????????? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ???????? ??????????????????????

You want your environment to look as much like your discipline self-environment.

For example, if you go back and visit your hometown, it probably will remind you of your old self and old habits might surface.?

If the new you are an athletic person and the old you were not, start to plan, where to go to gym, when to get up in the morning etc.

Don't let the old habits penetrate your mind.?

???????? ???????? - ?????????????????????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ?????? ?????????? ????????

Use ???????? ????????????????. It's proven to be a more powerful motivator than gain. ?

We rather avoid losing money then gaining it.

Make a contract with yourself.

For example, visit Stikk and try it out.

To me staring is always the hardest, since I have ADHD (inefficient amount of dopamine in my brain).

I use three tricks:

1? ???????????????? ???????? ???????? ?????????? ??????????

Example: I need to do my taxes. I Surf into the website and visit and click around. Then I leave. Then I go back again and do another small task.

This way, I get my small injections of dopamine which makes me go further to the next step and the next.

2???????????? ???? ???????????????? ??????????

I usually go to the gym at 5 am. Some mornings I have trouble getting out of bed (low on dopamine) so I use an app called “Barcode Alarm Clock”

What does it do?? In the morning when your alarm clock in the phone goes on, you cannot turn it off until you scan a random barcode (any) I put the barcode in the kitchen next to the coffee, so I get up, go to the kitchen and scan the barcode and since I'm up, I make a coffee and whoops, mission accomplished.

3? ?????????????????? ????????????????

Remove the steps between you and whatever friction you have to reach that goal. Gym? Put your clothes on the sofa ready to jump into in the morning Writing? Put your pen and paper ready on your desk night before

And so on…

???????? ?????? - ???????? ?? ???????? ???????????? ???? ?????????????? ????????????

By this I mean finding a way to give yourself some rest. I usually work 7 days/week.

But my weekdays are different from my weekends. On the weekends, I get up later, work less, take a nice walk in the park, and do other things that I find enjoyable.

This works for me, you need to find your own method, but find them.

It's important. It fills you with energy you need to keep it sustainable

For 30 days, every evening ask yourself: What energized me today? Write it down.?

At the end of the 30 days, you will see a pattern and some things show up more often in your notebook.

Sometimes you just have to stop thinking and ???????? ???? ????

For me, the moment I let my mind take over, I'm "smoked"

Another good method is discomfort training.

Example: cold showers, fasting or digital detox etc.

Sidenote: No matter how many instructions, methods or ways you read and watch to master this. The only person in the world that can help you is you. You need to visualize the end goal, what you will achieve if you keep being disciplined over a long period and feel as if you've already reached it. There is your ultimate motivator. Repeat visualizing every morning. Visualization is one of the most powerful methods to reach what we want in life. Much Love/Nick
