A life of FAITHFULNESS and GREAT FAITH!
All this being so, it may not matter so much whether the word here is rendered “faith” or “faithfulness.” For if we have living faith, we will respond with undying faithfulness.
Living faith itself is a product of God’s Holy Spirit—as it is the "faithfulness" that results. Indeed, God’s Spirit is the only power great enough to help us overcome the evil “works of the flesh”—our selfish human nature (Galatians 5:19-21).
The results of this selfishness are very gross examples of unfaithfulness, including adultery (infidelity to one’s spouse), fornication (infidelity to one’s future spouse), idolatry and sorcery (infidelity and treason against God), and killings, murders (a total betrayal of one another). May God help us to be different!
Faithful in all things, big and small
Let’s look now at some important lessons on faithfulness from Scripture. These show how God judges our character. “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much” (Luke 16:10, NIV).
God never overlooks or excuses any irresponsibility on our part. We must prove our trustworthiness in even the smallest duties.
“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” (Luke 16:11, NIV).
God judges our character by how we manage everything!
“And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?” (Luke 16:12, NIV). We should be just as careful—or even more careful—with the property of others as with our own. That kind of trustworthy stewardship brings certain rewards in this life and will bring much greater rewards in the next life.
The next passage is about slaves or bond-servants, but we can and should apply these principles to the role of an employee or helper: “Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart (and mind), as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism” (Colossians 3:22-25, NIV).
“Masters” (employers, supervisors, etc.) are just as accountable to God for how they treat those working under them (Colossians 4:1; Ephesians 6:9).
Faithfulness includes perseverance
Perseverance is a key to success in everything, including running a race. When Paul wrote his second letter to Timothy, he was in prison awaiting almost certain execution. But he was at peace because he knew he had been faithful to God.
Paul wrote, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). May we have this same confidence at the end of our race!
The ultimate reward for perseverance is eternal life! Jesus said, “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10). We must never give up or fall away!
In Matthew 24, Christ was giving His disciples startling prophecies of the “end of the age” (Matthew 24:3). In Matthew24:9-12, He speaks of tribulation, trials and persecution.
Then in Matthew 24:13 He says, “But he who overcomes and endures to the end shall be saved.”
In much of this chapter, Jesus is speaking of His second coming—at a time when most people will not be expecting it! It is the “faithful and wise servant” who will be richly rewarded—the one who, motivated by faith, has continued to do God’s will and God’s work until he dies or Christ returns, whichever comes first!(Matthew 24:44-46; see also Revelation 22:12).
Faithfulness to God and Christ
What is God’s will and God’s work? Part of the answer is in "helping others in need". It includes giving food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, hospitality and clothing to those who need them, and care for those who are sick or in prison (Matthew 25:31-46).
The returning Christ is portrayed as the King who will say, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Matthew 25:40). We show our love for God and Christ by how we love God’s other Christian children (1 John 4:20-21). Let’s do it!
Also in Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus told the parable of the talents (a “talent” was a measure of money). This story illustrates several vital lessons.
God gives each of us different abilities and opportunities, and He expects us to thoroughly use them in His service. He will generously reward us according to how much we have spiritually grown and served in this life.
An “unprofitable servant” who has wasted his time and opportunities instead of obeying God is called “wicked and lazy” and will be punished. And God does not accept excuses—not even fear of failure.
But the main point of the parable is how it beautifully portrays Christ returning someday to reward His faithful followers—those who believe God and live their life accordingly.
To each of the profitable servants, the master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord” (Matthew 25:21-23).
May we all live according to the faith God’s Spirit develops within us. And in the end, may each of us hear Christ’s wonderful words of approval on the great day He returns to reward His faithful servants! In Hebrews the 11th chapter we read:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a GOOD report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark (a huge boat/ship) to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed (in her age), and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore sprang there even one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
These ALL died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that do say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly home: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city (Please compare with John, 14:2-3).
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshiped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
By faith Moses, when he was born (was placed inside a reed basket and safely placed on the Nile river), was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. By faith Moses, when he was come to years (in adulthood), refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing Him who is invisible. Through faith he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest He that destroyed the firstborn should touch them. By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
And what shall I more say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jepthae; of David also, and of Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, had obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of a fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed brave and valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the (foreign) aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trials of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and jail and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, and were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented: (Of whom the world was not worthy :) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these ALL, having obtained a GOOD report through faith, received not the (ever lasting) promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they aside from us should not be made perfect.” (Hebrews, 11:1-40)
Bible Verses about the Spirit of Truth
? John 14:15-18:
"If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you like orphans; I will come to you.”
? John 16:13:
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
? John 14:6:
“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
? John 14:26:
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
? John 16:7-11:
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they do not believe on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world (Satan, the devil) is judged.”

6. The Spirit of Healing
First Corinthians 12 contains a list of spiritual gifts in the church including, “to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:9). So what is this spiritual gift of healing? Because this verse provides no definition of the gift of healing, many interpretations exist. However, it appears clear that the miraculous healings by the apostles are in this category. For example, in Acts 3, Peter healed a man who was disabled from birth. In Acts 19:11-12 we also read this, “And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even the aprons or handkerchiefs that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.”
These actions were used both to authenticate the message and the messenger of the gospel to new people groups where Christianity had not yet reached.
As a result, some believe this gift no longer operates today, but it served just as a temporary sign gift. Another view suggests that a person can still have the gift of healing today. However, this has also been very difficult to prove and has also been problematic due to occasions involving some “fake healings” or attempts to provide “proof” of those who have been healed. Still others see "the gift of healing" as involving more than only miraculous healings. This view would also include those gifted in the medical profession as those gifted in healing.
The idea that Christian medical workers can use their abilities for helping those in need and strengthening the church is certainly biblical.
However, since this definition of healing is not used in Scripture related to the gift of healing, connecting this view with the spiritual gift of healing is uncertain in interpretation.
It is true that God can and does still perform miracles today, including healing.
There may be much debate regarding whether a gift of healing may still operate today, but there is no doubt that God continues to intervene in today’s world to change lives through His power to heal.
When we are sick, God tells us to pray to Him for healing. James 5:14-15 teaches, "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders (Ministers) of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." This prayer for serious illness includes contacting the local church’s leaders to pray together, using oil as a symbol of God’s anointing power to heal. As an Apostle and ordained minister, I have anointed others with oil and prayed over them and I’ve seen them being healed. So I know I do possess this gift.
In Mark the 16th chapter verses 15-18 Jesus said this: “Go ye into ALL the world, and preach the gospel To every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with NEW tongues (I’ll talk about this later); they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing (that is poisonous), it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
And in Matthew 10:8: He commanded His disciples to: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely GIVE!”
More importantly, God miraculously provides spiritual healing—the salvation of our soul to offer eternal life (John 3:16: Romans 10:9).
Jesus has often been called the Great Physician, the One who can heal both body and soul, offering help now and for eternity.
7. The Spirit of Tongues
The Bible mentions that through the Holy Spirit, we TRUE Christians can have the “gifts of tongues” which simply means being able to speak and understand any foreign language (like I usually do) and to be able to “translate” and "interpret" that particular language (like I also do) as we will note in the following article written by Susan Mutch of The Church of God:
Scriptural Proofs against the Modern Tongues Theory
The apostle John gave a warning that is imperative for all to heed in these last days: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” I John. 4:1.
With the same love and concern for souls that caused John to give this warning, so this article was written. Many today testify to be “speaking in tongues.” Is this being promoted by a spirit which is “of God” or is it “another spirit”? (II Cor. 11:4) A careful study of the New Testament reveals that these "modern tongues" biz is without scriptural foundation. By the Word of God, it is proven to be error by the following:
(1) The Greek word glossa means either language or the organ of speech. Confusion could be cleared up by replacing the word tongue(s) in the Bible with the word language(s). “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other ‘languages’ as the Spirit gave them utterance.” It is error to give tongues a different meaning other than an intelligible language.
(2) Modern tongues advocates frequently teach that speaking in tongues is the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There is no such teaching in the Bible. It also seems very strange that those with this alleged gift of "speaking in angelic tongues" can still speak in it when they backslide. Are we to presume that they still have the Holy Spirit?
(3) Contrary to the teaching that tongues is for all believers, Paul tells us in I Cor. 12:4–11, 18, 27–31, that the true gift of speaking in foreign languages is not.
“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations…for to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom…and to another the gifts of healing…to another prophecy…to another diverse kinds of tongues…Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all speak with tongues?” When we understand the context of these scriptures, the answer is clearly NO! All do not speak in languages, just as ALL are not given the gift of teaching or prophecy.
(4) The authentic gift, as received on the day of Pentecost, enabled the disciples to speak forth “the wonderful works of God” in various foreign languages. This greatly advanced the spread of the gospel on that day, as there was a GREAT multitude there “out of every nation under heaven…every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed…saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own language, wherein we were born?” This ability to speak in these foreign languages was given to communicate the gospel. This, and this only, is what the gift of tongues is.
(5) There are a number of instances in the Bible where believers were filled with the Holy Spirit, and no mention is made of speaking in tongues (Cf. Acts 4:8, 31; 7:55; 8:17; 9:17; 13:9).
(6) Jesus never spoke in “tongues” and He had the fullness of the Spirit.
(7) It is error to say that unknown (unintelligible to man) tongues are given by the Holy Spirit. In I Cor. 14:2, 4, 13–14 the word unknown is italicized in most copies of the Authorized Version, which indicates that it is not found in the original Greek.
Confusion can be cleared up by leaving out the word unknown in I Cor. 14, or inserting the word foreign instead.
(8) “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.” I Cor. 14:14. Contrary to false beliefs this scripture is not advocating a prayer language that the person praying cannot understand and that only God understands. It simply means that if someone prays in a foreign language in the congregation, though he himself understands what he is saying, it is unfruitful to everyone else, because they do not know that particular language. “How shall he that occupieth the room of the (visiting) "unlearned" (in the things of God) say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth now what thou sayest?”
(9) Whatever the Spirit imparts is intelligible. The modern phenomenon of ecstatic utterance is unintelligible.
(10) Rom. 8:26 is often cited to support the theory that there is a sort of “prayer language” in which one prays in utterances he does not understand.
The scripture states, “The Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” If they “cannot be uttered”—cannot be vocalized by human expression—then how could any claim to do it? These groanings refer to the intercession of the Holy Spirit, not to a believer’s prayer language.
(11) In I Cor. 14, Paul is dealing with a problem in the congregation with people praying and speaking out in various different foreign languages that most didn’t understand. “For he that speaketh in an "unknown tongue" [foreign language] speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries” (Vs. 2).
You could preach a wonderful message in the French language, but if no one in the room understands French, then you are only speaking to God.
“Except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? For ye shall speak into the air” (Vs.9).
(12) Paul said that when we pray or sing in the spirit, we were to do it “with the understanding also” (I Cor. 14:15).
(13) Paul said he would rather speak five words with his understanding, then ten thousand words in a foreign language. It seems that "modern tongues" groups and enthusiasts would rather "jibber jabber" ten thousand syllables than speak five understandable words.
(14) Tongues are not a sign that the believer has the Holy Spirit, because Paul said “tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not” (I Cor. 14:22).
(15) Since tongues are a sign “to them that believe not,” then it cannot be a sort of "special prayer language" as they would have us believe, because that is not a sign to unbelievers.
(16) People under the influence of the "modern tongues" spirit sometimes lose control of themselves. The Bible tells me that if a man cannot bridle his tongue, his religion is vain (James. 1:26).
There will neither be any uncontrollable, or unseemly conduct energized by the Holy Spirit.
(17) If one has the Holy Spirit, they will manifest the fruit of holiness. Thousands upon thousands who thrill to babble in their modern tongues, manifest the fruit of the flesh—adultery, fornication, hatred, emulations, wrath, envyings, etc. (Gal. 5:19–21). We believe not every spirit, that it is of God, because we “know them by their fruits” (Matt. 7:16).
(18) There are only three biblical accounts of people receiving the gift of foreign languages. Advocates of the modern tongues “gift” have stamped this as a sign for having the Holy Spirit, yet have not understood the significance of the true gift being given in these instances…
(1) Pentecost marked the inauguration of the age of the coming of the Holy Spirit. Special signs were given in proof of it. The "gift of languages" that was given emphasized the universality of the plan of salvation, as the work of the disciples was to go “into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” Jew and Gentile.
(2) At Caesarea (Acts 10:46) God gave the same gift as the "inaugural event" at Pentecost as a witness to the Jews that all the privileges of the gospel were now extended to the Gentiles. They also understood what they were saying (Vs 46), just as did the hearers at Pentecost.
(3) At Ephesus (Acts 19:1–6) those who had only known the baptism of John came into the full knowledge of God’s plan through Christ, to whom the Holy Spirit bears witness (Cf. John. 15:26). Here again, they spoke in an intelligible language (Vs. 6), as to prophesy (preach) is to speak “unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort” (I Cor. 14:3). Men cannot be edified by what they cannot understand.
(19) In ancient times pagan people spoke in “tongues” under the influence of spirits that were not of God. This is the same type of phenomenon manifested in the modern tongues movement.
(20) By far, the majority of people claiming to have the gift of "modern tongues", do not live free from committing sin. I have heard this testimony repeatedly from their own lips. Acts 5:32 tells us that God gives the Holy Spirit to “them that obey him.” Sin is disobedience, and it is impossible to receive the Holy Spirit in that condition.
Since they can’t have the Holy Spirit, what spirit is it that they do have? Where did their supposed gift of the Spirit come from?
A manifestation for which there is no biblical foundation, is but a supposed gift of the Spirit. To allow or tolerate that which is not sanctioned by the Word of God is to leave the door wide open for deception.
Modern Tongues Delusion
“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them to the battle of that GREAT day of God Almighty.” Rev. 16:13, 14. Certainly one of the most grievous "frog-like" spirits (spirits of devils) working today and shared in common by paganism, Catholicism and Protestantism is the tongues-charismatic delusion.
Whether among the animist African tribes, those who practice "voodoo" in Haiti, the Mormons, or punctuated by hysterical laughter as those in Toronto, practiced by Roman Catholic nuns from so called: "charismatic" convents, or also by young charismatic men at “Promise Keepers” conventions, or are condoned by the First Church of God of Los Angeles, California, modern tongues (glossolalia) is one of the most awful delusions of Satan ever worked since the beginning of time. It is dangerous because it causes people to rest in this manifestation rather than the fruit of holy living.
This influential spirit is busy spreading its own brand of "ecumenicalism"; fleshly, spiritual free-love, spiritual darkness, and its own moral looseness, as in the cases of prominent “tongues” tele-evangelists who have been caught in much immoral behavior. It is a "loose-living", emotional spirit that tolerates adultery and other grievous sins and cloaks itself in a very religious verbiage. It attempts to threaten any who would take a stand against it that they will be blaspheming the Holy Ghost if they call it what it is. The time has come, and is past due, for all God’s true saints to speak out strongly and take a valiant stand against this religious evil. Congregations, yes, whole movements are being taken over by this awful delusion of hell, while we are sometimes accused of being harsh and unloving for lifting up our voice against this error.
We in God's Church confess that, although we love the people involved and we wish them spiritual advancement and enlightenment, we do not love nor do we condone this tongues delusion, nor can we tolerate it in any of its forms.
Glossolalia predates the first advent of Christ by many centuries. Ancient pagan religions were known for their “peepers and mutterers.” Isaiah 8:19 says, “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? For the living to the dead?” The true gospel message dispensation was ushered in a time when true religion (of the church of God) would not be distinguished by its obscurities, for again Isaiah says, “Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.” Isa. 33:19. The true church of God of this END time is to be known for “sound speech that cannot be condemned.” Titus 2:8. This “sound speech” is to be backed by sound, holy living. The gospel that was preached by the apostles was radical and easily understandable, which is exactly the gospel that is needed in this time.
H. M. Riggle writes: “‘Tongues’ in the New Testament sense means languages. ‘Unknown tongue’ simply means foreign language. We believe and teach that people may by the Spirit of the Lord (as on Pentecost) instantly receive some foreign language and speak it and that they may also after being sanctified by the Holy Ghost seek spiritual gifts of various kinds and obtain them. We also believe and teach that there is a special gift of interpretation of languages.
There is plenty of room in the church for the exercise of the genuine "gift of languages", but there is absolutely no room for this modern, false, gibberish, known as so-called ‘tongues’.”
What is becoming known today as “contemporary worship” is none other than the imposition of the blatant tongues movements’ well-known techniques to overtake and convert many to the tongues delusion. The “worship leader” at Pentecost was the precious HOLY SPIRIT.
His guidance was unerringly the will of Almighty God. True saints can never be satisfied with “spiritual calisthenics” directed by some crazy long-haired, “rock- generation” comedian. True saints reject the religious entertainment mentality and are looking for the true spiritual riches that feed the soul. We must have something more than continually repeated “praise choruses” that contain no spiritual depth. We thank God for the gifted song-writers of the Reformation movement who wrote God-anointed and inspired songs that do feed the soul with Biblical knowledge, understanding and encouragement. These hymns and songs can never be replaced by the “froth and foam” choruses this charismatic spirit is trying to substitute.
We are often told that this is a matter of generational taste and that we must reach the young people. This is not a matter of generational gap! The modern version of the charismatic tongues delusion is an insidious plan of Satan to steal the spiritual substance from the church of the last days. Yes, we must reach the young people, but with the substantial, sound doctrine of the Bible as taught by the apostles that will make holy living possible. Many times today the lifting of hands, rather than a testimony of a vibrant, Christian life, the outgrowth of purity of heart and life, is but a religious “hope-so,” “wish I was” or “wish I could” type of mentality.
The Bible speaks of lifting “holy hands” (in this we do believe), all others should keep their hands down. None should participate in this holy exercise who have not a "Spirit-filled" holy life to back it up. Whether or not ministerial assemblies equivocate on this issue, whether or not they send it to church committees for discussion, evaluation and resolution; regardless of how many influential pastors or congregations participate in it, or who call for tolerance of it, we can give, and there is absolutely no room, for this "GREAT delusion" in any of the churches of God. It stands condemned by the Word of God and the Spirit of God will never mix or mingle with it.
Angel Talk
I Cor. 13:1 says, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels…” This scripture is often used by charismatic tongues enthusiasts to promote the false theory that heavenly angels somehow speak a different language than mortal men. First the word, angel, in the Greek simply means “messenger.” It does not need to refer to a heavenly angel at all, but to a directly sent human messenger. But, even if this verse was referring to a heavenly being, there is absolutely no evidence that an angel ever spoke in any language other than that in which the one to whom he was sent spoke. We do not know what communication there is in heaven, but we do know that we have seen numerous cases in the Word of God where angels spoke to humans, and never once is it implied in the HOLY scriptures that they spoke in any other than the known tongue (language) of the person to whom the message was to be delivered, just as the disciples did at Pentecost. (Acts 2:6, 8, 11).
Prayer Language
Another false doctrine of hell being promoted today to the multitudes is that we must have some “heavenly-prayer language” in which to pray to God so the devil will not know what we are praying about or that we should have such a language so that we can be edified (I say, emotionally charged) as we pray. The scriptural basis for this is often given as Romans 8:26, 27. It says,
“Likewise the Spirit (emphasis mine) also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which CANNOT BE UTTERED (emphasis mine). And He that searcheth the hearts (and minds) knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
Let’s get this straight! This scripture is not at all talking about a human being giving any kind of utterance at all, in fact, this scripture says these groanings “cannot be uttered” (nor spoken). Romans 8:26, 27 is specifically speaking of the role of the Holy Spirit as He interprets the prayers of the saints according to the will of God. As for this thing of keeping secret our prayers from Satan, it is better he knows we are a praying people and that we are praying against him and his abominable works. He is bound anyway, where the child of God is concerned, and can only do as the Father permits him.
These last days are the days of gathering. Some are being gathered by these false spirits into this “great Babylon” of religious CONFUSION for everlasting destruction, and God is gathering out of the nations ALL of the glorious, pure Churches of God. It is a great battle and many are being deceived. DON’T BE DECEIVED! Read the Word, follow the blessed Holy Spirit and allow these two faithful, risen witnesses to lead you home to the church, the Kingdom and God.
We understand our privilege and responsibility to love with true Christian charity all the brethren, indeed everyone. However, these are "evil days" and many are being swept into perdition by "false prophets" promoting false doctrines which delude and deceive.
Hence we must, in the interest of souls and the truth, pen this article. We want to see every soul rescued from false religion and know it will take a clear message of truth to do it.
In this time the false ecumenical spirit of Pope Francis is crying out for tolerance of all doctrines and religions. This we will not, cannot, and must not do, for the church is exclusive and her doctrine is the doctrine of God and therefore not negotiable. We cannot fellowship with every spirit, but must “try the spirits” to see “whether they are of God.” I John. 4:1.
Conclusion
We have tried the charismatic-tongues spirit with the Word and the Spirit, and it is not of God.
