SEVEN: Our Last 7 Prophets
Change is in the air, along with both lovely and deadly trends that our ancestors somehow managed to successfully navigate. So, the question now is: Do we have what it take to successfully navigate our current explosive cocktail of challenges? I truly believe that the time to fight for our present and future is NOW. While Pandemics, nor Economic Crisis, Climate Change, Xenophobia, Conflicts, and last but not least natural disasters are weakening our economy it should by no means weaken our spirit and will to fight.
Since the 1990s, thanks to Seven, a brutal thriller story captivated audience around the world with a story about the rising 7 deadly sins- pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth; You will definitely notice that this was the seed of conversations talking about how our societies are in a state of moral decay generation after generation, leading to rise of multiple movements against our perceived sins, addiction to excess exploitation of natural resources. Now, is the right time for wisdom of 7 new thought leaders we need to grow 7 new heavenly seeds of prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, gratitude, and generosity, if we are to seize the opportunity of turning our challenges into a brave new world. Here is why these 7 types of prophets are our last hope for a paradigm shift out of our current challenges:
- A Prudence Prophet: As our consumption of fake luxury, trade deals, news and relationships keeps fallimy; Dataism will keep rising. This is why I believe the world needs people with the ability to step back and connect 4 dots: Data, information, knowledg and insights, and turn it into tools that can help us make more wiser and less impulsive social and economic decisions. Thanks to new technologies, new thought leaders can use Remote Work Tools to transcend geographies and share their wisdom via storytelling and streaming services, such as CARDBOARD, YouTube and Netflix.
- A Justice Prophet: The current COVIT-19 pandemic is hurting trade, supply chains and income-generating activities around the world. While this overtime lead to more local content production and value, there will always be a struggle of the traditional haves to keep the status quo and find new ways to view and exploit cheap means of human and natural as means of production. The United Nations will not be able to merely to ‘condemn‘ its way out of these new ways of exploitation, and its up to us re-invent a new tools such as gig economy where productivity is shared and valued, with tools such as Freelancers.com and Trello
3. A Temperance Prophet: The above map shows how maritime trade is more connected than ever. As our sea, air and land connectivity rises so does our consumption appetite, with sever impact on oceans, climate, flora and fauna. We need thought leaders how we can moderate harmful gluttony to a state where we consume what we need, save for the future and share the excess with others. Impact Fintech tools for example are beginning to help in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals- SDGs, by encouraging financial inclusion, responsible investments and saving.
4. A Courage Prophet: I have always been fascinated with heroes, especially who stood up for what is right even when the odds were stacked against them, just like in the story of Prophet-Kind David. Today, we need more courage in creative industries than in the battle field, for arts, and all forms of inclusive, creative expression need courage to use advanced design and convey how our differences are in fact a strength and we need to embrace them and look for ways in which we can bravely compliment or cowardly fear each other.
5. A Faith Prophet: Who would have thought that something as personal as coaching will see Artificial Intelligence or AI-powered robots? Woebot is marketed as an insightful robot friend who is available 24/7, I found it to be a sign of times: More ‘social media’ friends and followers than you can count, yet very few who would listen patiently, and without judgment, like Woebot. Yet, no advanced technology tool will finding purpose for us. All of our concurrent pandemic, economic, environmental and social crisis contribute to stress that we need handle. New thought leaders can helps us through the treacherous waters of burnouts through customized and personalized resources that can help us get to know our purpose more accurately.
6. A Gratitude Prophet: Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant and Cortana our new helpful, instant-gratification AI assistants get us the answers we are looking for and we do not even have to say thank you. We need thought leaders who could facilitate conversations, focusing on solutions the rising culture of entitlement and taking without giving especially with the younger generations.
7. A Generosity Prophet: If you have been blessed with the power to share you have been probably noticed that it can be taken for granted, and often laughed at as naivety; this is what makes it a scarce and valuable virtue. Thought leaders who can restore value to the power of caring and giving would have helped us share the science, research and innovation to develop more accessible medicine and knowledge.
Spiritual teachings tells that prophets only appear in testing times, and we are witnessing times of disruption, social distancing, anticipation and stress. I pray that we will find the courage to act, and not only wait, for the right messengers to prevail, but to be the messengers ourselves and leverage these crises as an opportunity to fix the health, social, and economic problems that are testing us today. So, which of these prophets would you be?
