This is largely because of the presence of significant institutions like the National Institutes of Health, which is only 10 miles away from the U.S. capital.
Washington D.C. is also at the heart of the BioHealth Capital Region (BHCR), where more than 1,800 life sciences companies are established.
The D.C. metro area in particular is seen as a flourishing life sciences hub.
