When someone asks about the importance of leaders being coaches, I have strong opinions.? I think leaders who are effective at coaching are generally more successful at leading.? Here's why:

• They spend less time putting out fires.
• Their companies have greater profitability and higher customer satisfaction because they've done a great job coaching members of their team.

I love any leader who can coach well.? However, not all leaders are great coaches.? Some may be good at barking out orders or telling people what to do, but they can't coach someone through a sticky situation.? They've simply never taken time to develop coaching skills or position themselves as a coach.
