settling for this is the biggest new year mistake

From the bottom of my heart, nothing would make me happier for you than knowing you’re revving to go this year because you’ve done these two things:

1.??????? You’ve looked at your primary business goal for 2025 and asked:

“On a scale of 1-10, how inspiring is it?”

-????????????? This is one of the biggest secrets I know.

Almost everyone is between a 6 and an 8.

Isn’t that crazy? Why would you settle for anything other than a 10?

Motivation is a fickle friend to begin with – why make it harder?

Yesterday I was shocked when a client rated achieving a higher level than last year (which was his best year ever- and he’s in his late 50’s) as a 5/10.

He even pushed back when I suggested we make it a 10.

Usually this is because the goal is a number.

A 10/10 goal is not a number.

Even if it would thrill you to earn $XXXXXXX, it’s never just about the money because money is never enough.

FIRST, it’s what hitting the target means to you.?

It’s proof…

You’re on a powerful upward trajectory

You’ve got your mojo back

You’ve been firing on all cylinders and making yourself proud

You’re providing for your family in a way you’ve never done before

You’re achieving something you’ve never achieved before.

?It means freedom or steps closer to it.

SECOND, it’s a sign that you need to think broader about what would make it a 10.

What would really inspire you?

Doing more positively challenging work?

Having more high level clients who really appreciate your guidance?

More leadership opportunities or consistent, better referral sources?

Having a more reliable support team?

What do you want to prove to yourself this year?

?– not least so you don’t unwittingly fall into the trap of having the same experience as before.?

2.??????? You’ve taken your current business goal and answered this?

What would make your goal a 10/10?

The only thing you might lack to answer this is the courage! This is no way to live.

What would make your goal a 10/10?

What else will prove you’re growing towards a bigger future, higher status and being a more respected leader?

Surely a 10 means you’re lining up big prospects more consistently.

You’re better positioned with more COIs.

Identify the metrics for these areas so you can track your progress.

You will know it by how you feel.

I find with several of my clients that we combine 3-4 metrics that build it to a 10.

Just make sure you have control over all these outcomes since they likely involve other people too.

You will know a 10 by how you feel: it will THRILL you.

You will say to yourself, “Really? Me? Wow."?

3.??????? The last step is to word the goal in a way that makes your heart melt

This wording doesn’t have to be a metric. It can summarise how you’d feel. It can be a word that has always meant the world to you – such as freedom or destiny.

It’s legal to ask for help with this ??
