This morning, I saw my mother trying to meet ends with the family members for the session.
My mother along with few more aunts started this "Early morning yoga sessions". This was their small gig towards making this lockdown more productive.
Not going much into how they landed about this idea of connecting all together and staying fit. I noticed there were pauses wherein some other members would join a little late, add some other aunt too, search for their number to add, etc.
So I decided to make this simple by creating a Whatsapp group and adding all regular members and making the one out of them as "Admin" who can further add if anybody is missed.
I titled it with some: Yoga by ___ with few more yoga smileys" to make it more dedicated.
While I was writing out the text in there, a single line of welcoming all and sending out the notion of staying fit; I ran into my dad peeping into the mobile.
So I asked, this is good right? Now they can directly call everyone. No pauses in between and it could work flawlessly for all.
He said something, which completely blew off my mind. He told me to go to group settings and change it to " Only admins can send messages".
I was quite surprised as to why he would suggest this when his own sisters and relatives are there who are so active on Whatsapp.
Quickly I could resonate with this thinking and finally be back with "Faith restored" emotion.
He told to change the settings to "Only admins" because he knew if everybody who was added started forwarding all types of messages in this group, the very purpose (Yoga) would be lost. So why not have a focused and discipline group, where only admins can send posts related to yoga.
This will help everyone in the group to maintain the same.
- Only yoga-related posts can be shared
- Some Yoga poses are hard to understand on a video call, so a specific picture of one doing the asana could help other members learn it effectively
- The same can be with pranayama, so the admins could record a short video and send in for better understanding
- Discipline would be maintained
This is one of my aunt practicing Yoga Asanas, getting clicked, and sharing it across to all who join the morning sessions.
I hope so now she can share directly in the group. :)
This got me to thinking of how small settings or restrictions could help us be ready for the better good.
If you're trying to achieve something, discipline is of utmost importance. If we add in small restrictions, we could be better focused.
Discipline, patience, and getting away from distractions could help us achieve more and progress ahead on the map of success.
Did you find any of such relevant learnings while you were trying to help someone or maybe talking to the elderly, or at some point of time?
If yes, please share your learnings, stories, thoughts with me in the comment section.
