Setting new ground rules

Setting new ground rules

For one day in December each year I love to invest time in reviewing the year past. It’s incredible to look back through my Success Log and recount the achievements in a sort of "Sports Review of the Year" style!

And it’s not simply a way of celebrating success, but also learning the lessons as we go along. Many times I hear people say "If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you have always got." It’s amusing (and exasperating) to then see many of them continue doing what they have always done!!

What steps can we take to ensure we keep learning the lessons as they arise, and we act on those lessons?

Setting new ground rules is important so that the lessons can be acted upon. This is not about setting resolutions, but about changing thinking, raising standards, and adopting new traits and modes of operation. And it’s essential to write down these lessons and new ground rules. And then to keep them prominent.

The list can be as long or as short as you wish, but don’t miss the opportunity to learn your lessons. One of the first lessons may be, "I need to keep a Success Log / journal and to be aware of the successes I’m having as well as the lessons I’m learning"!!!

What are your lessons for 2016? And the resulting ground rules?
