Setting goals to escape procrastination
During the Setting Goals for Delivery and Motivation workshop we explore the idea that setting goals help people to manage their time.
Clear and achievable Goals help to stay in the Important-Not Urgent quadrant. Where people have time for creative ideas for important things.
However, what happens if you find yourself in the situation where time is pressing and a tone of super important things are waiting? This is where your brain might refuse to serve you well, and decide that it wants to do something that is clear, relatively simple or easy to comprehend - like to read/scroll the Facebook or Linkedin feed :). This is where procrastination thrives and flourishes :). I guess you know what can happen after - missed deadlines, burning midnight oil to catchup, etc. if it's all systematic your might even burnout and fall into a depression.
If you find yourself in the upper left quadrant a clear and achievable goal will help your prioritize the pile of burning tasks, and in some cased will return you to the creative and productive quadrant of important and not urgent things.
Stay focused with goals and be mentally healthy!
