Setting goals is easy...ignoring them is a lot easier. So please stop just setting new year goals and start living life to the fullest!

Creative insights that drive durability are at the core of everything that I do.
Please stop just setting goals...
My only goal in life is to remain constantly paranoid about mediocrity—that is it, I’m done.
But what does that mean?
It means that I have surrendered to the realization that all is on me and that there is no easy path, but to embrace an love the daily “suck”!?
Acknowledging that there is nothing outside of me that can enable me to get better, quicker, stronger, richer, smarter, happier...everything is within me.?Recognizing that the only path is changing those things that I can (and should change) and leaving things that I cannot change alone. ?
Embarking on the daily process with discipline, attitude, and extreme accountability.
Keeping excellence as my only goal and as my only north star.
Nice rhetoric…right???
Don’t hate, here is my basis to stop playing the yearly goal-setting game...
Neuroscience research clearly shows that our lizard brain works protectively, resistant to change. Therefore, any goals that require significant change (behavioral or thinking) will automatically be resisted.
Discipline instead allows us to set “micro-goals” that enable us to stay on the path of progress, one day at a time, one gym day at a time, etc.?Focusing on progress with the things that we should be focusing on.
If setting perfect goals that follow best practices worked, then we would all be hitting the ball out of the park!?But we are not, not personally, not corporately.?

Regardless of good intentions and effort, many continue to fail.
Enjoy the Process - It is called Life!
We must have clear intentions and a clear vision (understanding the why we do it) followed by daily disciplined execution with a positive focus (the positive reinforcement).
Focus on the journey, the daily commitment to fostering good lifestyle habits in all aspects of life and avoid mediocrity like a plague.
Always focusing on the positive gaining small wins around the things that we control, owning our responsibilities.
My Commitment to Myself
Since I have committed to being paranoid of being mediocre, I will focus on working daily on my weaknesses and I will stop making excuses. ??
I will talk to my pillow at sunrise and sunset, with a heart full of thanksgiving and with the full intent of getting better by having those tough-love conversations that my dad used to have with me while I was growing up.
I will have a tough-love conversation with my ego and my inner child every morning, and then I will smile.?
I will start to address what I need to address and stop spending time on things that are out of my control.?
My formula is simple: If I know the "why" clearly, and I can see the progress with small wins, then my daily motivation and commitment will follow.
Note: I am not waiting for a new year resolution, I already started getting up at 4:00AM to go to the gym. So, what is your excuse?
